I open my eyes and gaze up at the sky staring back at me. I take a deep breath in, holding it for a couple of seconds. Then, I exhale, releasing the stress, anger, sadness, and frustration out of me.

"How do you feel?"

A soft voice speaks to me.

I stay silent for a little bit. Needing to savor every piece of information I listened to. I close my eyes again feeling the wind touch my skin giving me a small chill but then feel the sun's heat like a blanket covering my body to keep me warm. Another deep breath in and a quick release out.

"Refreshed."

"Good."

I sit up and take the earphones off my ears. I turn and face Nikki who's sitting on a blanket next to me crossed leg. We came down to a small park in the early hours of the morning. Dr. Lars suggested to Nikki that we should try meditation. He said it would be good for clearing our heads. Make our thoughts go quiet. Nikki's been doing it so far. I was reluctant to do it at first, but I decided I would give it a try. And I must say, it was nice.

"I was never one for meditation." I crossed my legs on my blanket scooting towards him. "I always thought it was nonsense."

"Me too." He chuckles lightly. "Until I tried it. Sometimes people's thoughts are always racing and unsettled. My head is like that. And when you're living here, especially in the city where those so much noise. You need a place to go for silence. Where you can hear yourself think."

I nod. "You know, I was able to hear my thoughts. And what I want."

"That's great." He smiles genuinely. "You don't have to share them with me if you don't want to. There are your thoughts your feelings."

I stare at him with adoration. Nikki has changed. He wasn't the same guy I met in the 80s. He's come a long way. And I know I have a lot of catching up to do. He's been putting my feelings before himself. And it feels good to be heard. He's been helping me out with my attitude and behavior. When he sees that I'm getting frustrated or stressed out. We go for car rides or bike rides on his motorcycle. We also take late-night walks in the forest. I don't think it's a good idea. I mean we are in the forest. But he likes nature. And I'm trying to be supportive of the things that make him feel good.
