≻───── ⋆✩⋆ ─────≺ELLA WAS IN her room doodling in her song journal.
All of a sudden, she heard a knock on her door.
"Come in!"
She looked up, seeing her one-and-only boyfriend, Kendall Knight, waltz in with a smirk on his face.
"Hey, Hockey-Head, what's up?" She asked, narrowing her eyes at him skeptically as he sat down on her bed.
He leaned in, cupping her face as he kissed her deeply. This is weird, she thought, considering he never initiated something like this before. She leaned down, pulling him on top of her as they continued. After a couple of seconds, Ella pulled back, eyebrows furrowing in confusion.
He kissed her forehead. "Have I ever told you how pretty you are?"
Ella rolled her eyes, sitting back up. "Okay, what do you want?"
He opened his mouth in offense. "What? I can't call my girlfriend pretty?"
"Not like this," she smirked.
Kendall sighed, "Fine. I need your help with something."
"I know, what is it?"
"You know how the guys and I hate figure skaters?" Kendall asked, before backpedaling after seeing Ella's raised brow. "Except you, of course."
"Yeah, it's because Chet and Mimi Camerelli called you guys 'cavemen on skates' and said you could never do a double sow cow or death spiral if you tried." Ella mocked.
"Right, so..." Kendall trailed off. "I need your help proving them wrong."
Ella's jaw dropped at this, "Are you saying you want me to teach you how to figure skate?" She asked in disbelief.
Kendall lowered his head in embarrassment, before looking back at her, explaining, "I vowed that one day I'd show that hockey players were just as good as figure skaters."
"How heroic of you," she teased, earning an eye roll from him. "Wait," she interrupted, shaking her head. "What about the figure skating code?"
Growing up, her and the boys came up with many, many codes for their friendship. For example, the Ex-Girlfriend code, the Best Friend code, the and disgustingly enough, the Don't Borrow Underwear code. In elementary school, there was even an Ella code where the boys promised not to fall for her in case that would ruin their group. It was disbanded when they got to eighth grade, so Kendall didn't technically break it.
But there was one that the boys were very serious about: the Figure Skating code. Hockey players and figure skaters were always at war for ice time and they had this ongoing feud between them that Ella didn't really understand. When she was 10, she started taking figure skating lessons and the boys got upset. In the end, they made an exception to Ella and only held their grudge against the snobby figure skaters, AKA Chet and Mimi Camerelli.
They all promised never to figure skate, so Ella was really surprised to hear that Kendall was so willing to break the code.
"I know, that's the thing." Kendall admitted. "You can't tell them. Promise?" He held out his pinkie towards the girl.
"I thought we were too old for pinkie promises," Ella teased, quoting what he said on their first date.
"You're never too old," Kendall smiled, causing her to latch her pinkie onto his.
"Okay, I promise."
"So you'll teach me how to figure skate and coach me and Camille in the competition?"
