ELLA WOKE UP, stretching out her arms in her bed before a wide grin spread across her face.

It was November 13th. Her birthday.

Being the youngest one in the group, she was the last to turn 18. The boys made sure to tease her about it, even Kendall who took pride in the fact that he was 11 days older than her. It was pathetic, really.

All of a sudden, her smile dropped and her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Something was missing, no, someone.

Every year on her birthday, the boys would magically show up in her room and do a wake up birthday call with birthday punches. A 9 year old Ella was startled beyond belief when she woke up with 4 boys in her room blowing party horns and setting off confetti poppers. As the years went on, it became a tradition.

Except this time.

There was no way they forgot. Birthdays were such a huge deal within their group. They went out during the day for an adventure and would go back home to cut cake and open gifts.

It's already been a month since she moved back to the crib, but maybe they were just trying to give her some space and privacy. She immediately shook that idea out of her head. When have the boys ever cared about that?

Ella looked over at the time. It was a little after 10:00 A.M.

The crib was eerily quiet and that scared her. She lifted the blanket off of her and got out of bed. Were they going to pop up out of nowhere and surprise her to death? Because that wouldn't be funny.

Cautiously, she opened her bedroom door and stuck her head out. She curiously looked in the hallway. There was no one. Then, she tiptoed out into the living room. Also empty.

What the hell?

All of a sudden, Mrs. Knight walked into the kitchen, making the girl jump. Her features relaxed slightly now that she saw a familiar face.

"Hey, Mama Knight."

The woman held up her arms with a large smile. "Happy birthday, Ella!"

Ella immediately walked over to her, giving her second mother a hug. "At least someone remembered."

"What do you mean?" She asked, confused.

Ella raised a brow, gesturing to the empty apartment. "Where is everyone?"

"Well, Katie went to the arcade and I'm pretty sure the boys left you a note somewhere..." Mrs. Knight went over to the dining table, rustling through magazines, before pulling out a white piece of paper. "Here."

This was really weird. Who left notes anymore? Shrugging, Ella took it from her, reading what the guys wrote.

Happy Birthday Ella!
