IT WAS ALL over the headlines.

Ella Reed is getting sued for allegedly plagiarizing Dak Zevon's single, "It'll Be Alright"

It started a couple weeks ago, a few days after the British boy band invasion. It was a gloomy afternoon.

Ella and the boys were chilling in the living room, talking amongst themselves with the TV playing in the background.

A knock on the door was heard.

The five teens all collectively looked at each other.

"N-"

"Not it!" The boys exclaimed, interrupting Ella.

"You all suck," she joked as they snickered, relieved they didn't have to leave their comfortable spots on the couch.

She ran up to the door, opening it.

On the other side was a middle aged man, dressed in a dark grey suit with a red tie. He held a yellow folder in one hand and a briefcase in the other.

"Hello?" Ella greeted, brows furrowing in confusion.

"Are you Ella Reed?" The man asked.

The girl turned around, seeing her friends paying no mind to this interaction.

She closed the door, stepping out into the hallway, not really getting a good feeling about what this man was going to say.

"Yeah."

The man held out the large yellow envelope to her, saying three words that absolutely gutted her.

"You've been served."

Ella widened her eyes, using her shaking hands to take the document.

The man gave her a curt nod before leaving.

She hesitantly opened the front door, slowly walking back in, keeping a blank stare at the floor, still yet to open the envelope.

Her four friends looked at each other in concern, seeing Ella's state, wondering who was at the door.

She was perfectly fine a minute ago.

"El, what's wrong?" Kendall questioned, getting up from the couch, making his way to the shaking girl.

Taking a deep breath, she locked eyes with him. "I-I'm getting sued."

After that, it was all a blur.

Before she knew it, she and the guys were sitting at a conference table at Rocque Records with Gustavo, Kelly, Griffin, and his assistants.

Never in a million years would she think she would ever be in this position.

They were just going to look at what was inside the envelope, the boys being there for moral support.

"Well?" Ella prompted, her heart beating out of her chest.

Griffin put the documents on the table. "Unfortunately, Dak Zevon and his management team are suing you and your team for plagiarism."

Ella froze.

Not only was she getting sued for plagiarism that she didn't commit, but it was from her ex-boyfriend.

"What? I didn't plagiarize anything." Ella defended. "Which song did he accuse?"

" 'Exhale."
