Chapter 7: Why Must The World Be Against Me?

Hey guys new chapter! And this one is my longest one yet. Enjoy x.

The rest of the plane ride was filled with me watching 2 more movies, which were Step Up 2 and How To Train Your Dragon. I've already watched those before but I just love them and I can't stop gushing over how adorable Toothless is. Like, I seriously need a Toothless as a pet and also as my transport right now!

Apart from fangirling while watching the movies, I also went to the toilet once. And did you know how many things they provided in there? It's crazy. I found combs, toothpastes, toothbrushes, mouthwash (wish I gladly used), dental floss and of course, sanitary pads for the unlucky females on the flight.

I wasn't one of the unlucky ones. Just in case that question popped up in your head.

Finally, we were at the London Heathrow Airport, just the moment I've been waiting for for the past 16 hours or so. We walked out of the plane and found ourselves in the bustling airport. I took in my surroundings and tried to take in every detail I could. I loved doing that.

It was in the evening right now in London and I could see the orange tint in the sky from the glass windows in the airport. There were many non-British looking people as expected, since this was an airport after all. Some looked like they were from the Middle East, Asia and of course the majority were Americans. I also spotted a couple of Australians, which I could tell from their accents.

We made our way to the baggage claim to await our luggages so that we could get to the hotel as soon as possible. I saw my mom's bags and mine making its way on the rubber rolling thing (yeah, I sort of forgot what it's called). Before I could head to unload the luggage, I saw a pair of hands already grabbing them and setting them on the ground.

I was afraid that someone had confused their luggages with ours and my eyes snapped up to the person who unloaded them. For once, relief swept over me at the sight of Shane. I don't know how he did it put he started rolling all three bags in my direction. I realised what was happening and I quickly made my way towards Shane to take the bags from him.

"Thanks, Shane." I said with full of sincerity at his unexpected kindness.

"It's nothing. What kind of man would I be if I let such a beautiful woman carry her bags?" Shane eyes diverted from me to someone behind me and a smile overtook his features. I turned my head and found my mom grinning at the compliment Shane just gave her. Well, she was a sucker for compliments. Stupid Shane was trying to seem like the angel that he wasn't in front of my mother. He probably took the bags just to make my mom love him even more than she already does.

Throughout the trip so far, whenever my mom and Shane interacted, he had always been this polite gentleman and oh did that infuriate me because it made my mom continuously warn me to be nice to Shane. I guess it was pretty obvious that Shane and I weren't exactly what you'd call besties. Very much the opposite actually. And my mom could sense that.

Before Shane turned around to collect his own luggage, I just had to add, "Of course you'd do this to win my mom over," I said with a scoff. I mean it's not like I'm surprised. But maybe a part of me was just hoping that he was actually being nice for me. But that was a stupid thought from the start. I was probably seen as someone who was unworthy of his attention. I mean he basically had the looks of a model and as for me, I was just average or maybe even below average compared to him. If he was interested in anyone it would probably be Veronica.
