Chapter 13: I Think You Just Fell For Me

Hey guys new chapter! Brace yourselves. Enjoy x.

Shane’s POV (Surprise surpise!!)

I watched Kayla as tears began forming in her eyes and her laughter slowly died down from all the tickling. Ha, now I knew one of her weaknesses. This could be useful in the future. I wished I was the one who caused that beautiful smile on her face though. And I wished she looked at me with as much joy as she looks at Ron. But she probably thinks of me as an insufferable prick.

I felt nails dig into my palms. I immediately unclenched my fists, unaware that I was even balling them up. I was getting angry for no reason at all. I don’t like her in that way. I can’t. She is like this wonderful person who deserves an equally wonderful guy. And me? Well, I’ve been a douche. Always have. Why would someone who’s got guys at her heels, guys who don’t have a track record of sleeping around, ever want me?

She even has Ron wrapped around her fingers.

        Just look at his face!

But luckily they’re cousins so that’s one less guy to worry about. But there’s that stupid Adam guy and just recently, the receptionist of our hotel. I wonder who even gave him a job there because he doesn’t seem to be doing it very well.

Not like I’m worrying because who she is with doesn’t matter to me.

I watched as Ron looked back at Kayla with adoration after their little tickling battle. I looked away immediately and distractedly scanned the clothes that we passed by instead of saying something that I know would cause Kayla to glare at me.

Her glares are cute though, like an angry kitten.

Okay, I need to stop this.

We finally reached the café and the three of us queued up.

“Sweetheart, what do you want?” I asked, wanting to get her what she wanted. Maybe just to see her smile. At me.

Yeah, I don’t know what I was trying to prove.

“It’s okay, man, I got it covered for her.” Ron said off-handedly as he smiled at Kayla before looking at me.

I clenched my jaw and gave a terse nod as I diverted my attention to the array of mouth-watering cakes displayed behind a gold-rimmed glass. As Ron was giving his and Kayla’s orders, I stole a glance at Kayla and found her eyeing the chocolate cake.

“You want that?” I questioned, pointing to the cake.

“Urm, no. It’s not worth the price. Not like anything here is. Plus, Ron wouldn’t let me spend my own money and I don’t want to spend even more of his so no.” She replied animatedly, waving her hands as she turned her gaze from the cake to me. Her hazel eyes bored into mine and I couldn’t help but notice how pretty they were. I could stare into them for hours and not be bored but I'm sure that would borderline creepy.

Please excuse me while I hit myself. Repeatedly.

“Next order of please. What can I get you?” the server asked me as Ron and Kayla went to find a seat.

“One iced coffee and a slice of that chocolate cake over there.” I ordered pointing to the cake that Kayla was eyeing not a minute ago. I felt a small smile on my lips as I remembered how Kayla was practically drooling at the sight of it.
