Chapter 17: I Was Being A Creep
Hey guys, new chapter! Enjoy x.
Kayla's POV
I caught the occasional furrowing of his eyebrows and the clenching or unclenching of his jaws when I stole glances at him during the cruise. Why was he acting this way? Something's wrong. As annoying as his usual arrogant and egotistical self was, I'd prefer that side of him any day over the Shane that was sitting beside me right now. Actually, I think I would even go as for to say that I missed that side of him that he was not long ago.
I don't know why it unsettled me to see him this way and I even had to restrain the part of me that wanted to comfort him and find out what was wrong. I couldn't let him think I cared more than I should. Or maybe I didn't want to let myself think that.
I knew myself well enough to know that my curiosity will probably be the death of me one day and I just knew I wouldn't be able to help myself from getting to the bottom of this. But not now. It wasn't the right time to ask him yet. Not in front of everyone atleast.
We went back to the hotel after the cruise that was marvelous, apart from Shane's behavior. Aunt Lila picked the perfect timing for the cruise because, towards the end of the cruise, we could see the city bathed in pink and orange as the sun began setting and, let me tell you, it was quite a sight. That view deserved to be on everyone's bucket list.
I wondered what the plan for dinner was. It was already nearing half past six in the evening when we were back in the hotel. I knew the moms were tired from the hours of walking that we had accomplished today. So, I went to Aunt Lila's room where my mom was hanging out at to figure out how dinner was going to be.
I strolled into Aunt Lila's room, smiling warmly at Nina who had opened the door for me.
"So what are you guys planning to do for dinner?" I asked, getting straight to the point.
"Maybe we could go somewhere nearby? But I feel so lazy!" Aunt Lila whined causing all of us to laugh at her childishness. My mom high-fived Aunt Lila, agreeing with her about being lazy. Just a reminder, they were the adults here.
I came up with an idea while the moms were being adorably childish.
"Hey, I got an idea. Since you guys are so lazy-", I chuckled, "-I could go and buy back food for all of us." I volunteered, already hatching a plan in my head.
"Oh that's so sweet of you, honey!" I beamed at Nina in return.
"But, don't go out alone. You're the only daughter I have." My mom warned, half jokingly and half-serious.
"So, if you had another daughter then I could go out alone?" I asked playfully to which my mom rolled her eyes at.
"And yeah I could probably drag someone with me." I told them as I made my way back to my room to grab my wallet and checked that I had enough money to pay for a meal for seven.
Next, I went up to Ron and Shane's room and knocked on their door.
"Hey Kay!" Ron smiled as he opened the door. I gave him a quick hug before walking into his room as if I owned the place. Well, that was a mistake.
"Ah, my poor, virgin eyes! " I exclaimed dramatically shielding my eyes with my hands when I spotted Shane wearing only his boxers.
I heard two different chuckles and some movements.
"Boo!" I heard someone whisper right beside my ear causing me to jump.
"Of course it was you." I said sarcastically as I narrowed my eyes at Shane who was grinning boyishly at my reaction to his little scare. That sadist! Well atleast he was properly clothed now.
