Chapter 26: Who's The One Blushing Now?

Hey guys, new chapter! I had some time on my hands today so here you go:) Enjoy x.

Kayla's POV

"That was so badass."

That was the first thing that Shane said as he stepped into my room, still smiling like an idiot. But I'm pretty sure I was mirroring his expression too.

"I don't know about you but my heart felt like it was about to beat out of my chest when I was about to run." I said, still a little breathless from the adrenaline rush.

"Real secret agent-y by the way," he said, winking at me, "the way you signaled me to leave the store."

"Gosh, that was so scary. But cool. But scary." I rushed out as I smiled in his direction.

"You have no reason to be scared sweetheart."

I raised an eyebrow at him before continuing, "What if the cashier caught me and took my number? Or what if he did something worse? I don't even want to think about it actually since we are never going back to that store ever again!" I said, sounding a little horrified.

"If he even dares to touch a single strand on your hair, I swear he would wish he never tried hitting on you." He said, looking serious for once, with anger flashing in his eyes for a second before they disappeared. But that was enough to make my heart pump that much harder.

"Shane!" I said, obviously shocked at what he had said.

"What? It's true." He said, looking like he wanted to say something more but he kept his mouth shut.

"What?"

"What what?"

"Shane..."

"Kay Bear..."

I narrowed my eyes at him which seemed to fuel his smirk.

"You wanted to say something. What was it?"

His smirk dimmed and he was the first one who broke the eye contact. He rubbed his neck before opening his mouth again – his nervous tick.

"Just try to not do that again?"He said softly, sounding more like a question. His eyes looked pleading and he was gnawing on his lower lip.

"Do what?" I asked, focusing my eyes on his as my voice came out in almost a whisper.

He let out a sigh as he turned away from me and made himself comfortable on my bed. "Nothing."
