As we ate the atmosphere got visibly more tense. I stole glances in his direction and I knew we were both wondering the same thing.

'What now?'

Do I just get up and leave? In true fashion, I shouldn't have been here for so long. I wondered if he was confused like me, or whether he made a decision. Was he new to this or did his easy confidence come from practice? Was I supposed to suggest my departure? Or is it an unsaid fact, like it normally is.

I dreadfully took the last bite of my pancake, deciding that I would just ask where my dress is as a subtle hint. When I opened my mouth to speak he beat me to it and took a deep breathe. I closed my mouth and waiting for him to speak.

"You're a pretty brilliant pancake maker." He let out after sometime and then laughed at his own attempt. I pushed my plate aside and indulged him.

"Thank you, I have to make some for my roommate occasionally." I said with a smile.

"Oh you have a roommate? Where do you stay?" He asked suddenly intrigued, the flow of curiosity natural this time.

"I go to University, I live there, close to campus. I've got a roommate living with me since I started." I said with a shrug.

"Oh what subject?" He asked

"Law." I answered

"Smart."

"I am."

He grinned at me while I looked at him, intrigued.

"How about lunch?" He asked with a sinful amount of confidence.

"It's eleven am." I answered to his question.

"Well I'm sure we can wait till then, is your devine talent with pancakes extended to other meals?" He asked, eyes glinting, wits out.

"All meals." I answered back, eyes not moving from his, two can play this game.

"What do you plan on doing till lunch time then?" I asked with a slight smile.

"We can skip lunch, dinner you can make." He said, mirroring my expression as he got up and took the plates to the sink.

"And what do we do all day?" I asked, heart pounding loudly in my ears. He came and sat back down.

"I can think of a few things. Too many actually." The meaning behind his statement made my insides turn like a Ferris wheel.

"Where do we start." I simply said.

"Right here on the counter."
