Captains - Patrick Cripps

Chapter 4

Thursday January 5th 2017

Patrick Cripps woke up at 7am on Thursday morning to get ready for training, most people would assume that it was just going to be a normal training session but for the players at Carlton it wouldn't be.

Today was the day that the men's team were going to meet the very newly formed women's team and to say the boys were excited was an understatement.

At their last training session on Tuesday the main topic of conversation was abut the women's team.

All of the boys were glad that there was going to be a women's league so that girls can have their own league instead of not being able to pursue a career in AFL only having smaller leagues, it was one step forward in gender equality but it was outrageous that it took so long.

Many of the boys were excited for the training session to day as they were going to meet and train with the women to get too know them seeing as they're part of the same club.

None of the boys knew who was on the team making them more nervous because they didn't know what any of them would be like or so they thought.

Patrick started getting ready for training and then headed off to Ikon/Princes park. When he arrived at 8:25 for the 8:30 session he was the last one to arrive all of the boys were sitting around having a chat and a laugh he walked over too everybody and said hi before joining the conversation.

"Does anybody know what time the girls are coming to train?" asked a curious Sam Docherty

"I'm pretty sure they start like an hour after us, I asked Bolton" said Levi Casboult receiving a few nods

"I wonder what they'll be like" said Charlie Curnow

"I hope they aren't rude or bitchy or something" said Ed Curnow

"That would be shit" stated Jack Silvagni

"Yeah it would" said Patty Cripps

"Ah well, we'll see when they get here in the meantime we have to go start training before Bolt bites our heads off" exclaimed Marc Murphy ending the conversation and getting them on the oval.

Eleanora woke up at 8am to the sound of her loud alarm which she really felt like chucking across the room or just smashing it.

Unfortunately though she had to get up for training she was nervous for today seeing as they would be training with the men and that meant Jack, she wasn't really looking forward to it.

She didn't want him to resent her for not telling him, she was hoping he would be happy not mad but she had no clue of how he might react.

Leni got out of bed after contemplating whether or not she should show up, she hopped out of bed getting dressed into training clothes doing her hair, eating brekkie and getting her bag.

Leni was getting a ride to training with the twins seeing as they lived fairly close so now she was just waiting for them to get there.

It was about 9:00 when the twins arrived to pick her up, training starts at 9:30 so they would get there a bit early but that was alright because that meant they had more time to get ready and chat with their teammates.

The day prior all of the girls in the team had become really good friends and some little friend groups within the big one had been established.

For example Leni was part of a smaller group consisting of: Sarah H, Jess, Brianna, Tilly, Sarah L, Shae, Alison, Bella and Lauren A. She was good friends with everyone but closest to those 9 girls.

Yesterday those 9 plus herself had spent the majority of training and after training talking and getting to know each other.

Leni and the twins got to Training at about 9:10 meaning they had about 20 minutes to get ready have a chat with everyone else and in Leni's case mentally prepare herself for Jack's reaction.

The girls on the team had figured out she was his cousin yesterday so she didn't need to think about what they would think. Most of them thought it was really cool that she was part of a big family in the footy community.

The 3 girls walked into the locker room to see about half the team there getting ready, after greeting everyone and having some laughs all of the team was there.

The girls were told the day earlier to meet Damo in the café at 9:25 so they all decided to head over. When they got there they same him waiting for them to arrive whilst writing down some things in a notebook.

"Morning ladies" he greeted with a big smile receiving some hello's and good morning's "I hope you are all ready to train cause its a 4 hour session today we will train with the boys for 3 hours as they finish an hour earlier, alrighty lets head out to the oval" he told them all.

The Women all got up from their seats and starting walking towards the entrance to the oval.

Leni was was really excited but kind of nervous for Jack's reaction, she couldn't wait to see his face when he recognised her though.

They walked out onto the oval seeing all the boys training, the training came to halt when they all walked out Bolt jogged over to say hello to Damo.

The girls all had a chat whilst the coach's talked for a couple minutes. Looking over to the men Leni saw them all standing together having a chat a looking towards the girls occasionally.

It seemed as though Jack had not yet seen Leni as she was in the middle surrounded by people making her harder to see.

The coaches wrapped up their convo and Bolton called over all of the boys who jogged over some with smiles other with nervous looks.

When they got over they all stood so that you could see everybody, the girls decided they should do the same and slowly spread out.

Leni was standing at the end of the line the girls ad gotten into she could see Jack's eyes scanning over everyone when they finally reached her he froze.

"What the fuck" was all Jack could get out seeing his cousin the person he considered his best friend standing at the end.

I hate lockdown my sister is pissing me off all she does is go in my room while im on calls and annoy me so stay inside everybody so that this can finish quicker.

A/N 1079 words im getting better i hope this isn't shit the next chapter should be a lot better, i'm actually kind of excited so i hope you guys like it. CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE COMMENT OR MESSAGE ME TO SAY IF THIS BOOK IS SHIT OR NOT BECAUSE I NEED TO KNOW
