Chapter 14

7:30pm Saturday January 7th 2017

All of them quickly turned back to the phone to see a text but getting annoyed when it was just amaysim saying her data got renewed. After all of them getting frustrated they gave up waiting and just starting gossiping about stuff that had happened recently.

Leni was telling them about how Cassie was going, all of her family loved Cassie seeing as she had been Leni's best friend since she was little. Leni was telling them about her team when her phone buzzed but this time it was and unknown number Making them all excited.

Patrick Cripps hadn't been doing much all day mainly focusing on cleaning up his room for the first time in ages, all day he had been contemplating texting Leni or Nora as he called her.

Eventually he decided he'd do it later he had written her number down so he didn't forget it. Pat went about his day as normal, After dinner he was sitting on the couch with Lachie Plowman watching a movie when he decided it was time to text her.

He picked his phone up from where it was sitting next to him and typed her number into messages before sending her a text he then put his phone down and focused back on the movie but was secretly hoping she would text him back quickly.

They were all reading the text in the little bubble on her lock screen, Leni didn't want to open it because then he would see that she had read it and she was planning not to send him a text straight away instead choosing to give him payback and not respond until the next day.

The text he had sent was a simple "Hey, how are you" and in a separate text it said "It's Crippa By the way"

Her mum, Jo and Nonna all starting smiling "Soooo what are you going to say" asked Jo excitedly

"I'm going to respond tomorrow to give him a little bit of payback and then I'll probably say, Hey I'm good, or something you know" she said

"Ooh yeah, make him wait" said Rita with a big smile on her face.

"You are all way too invested in my love life" Len said they all started laughing while walking inside to where the men were who looked up when they entered.

"What are you guys laughing at" asked Ben

"Oh just something in my Love life" she told them with a teasing smile making them all look up and look a bit protective.

Being the only girl child of the group of kids she was well protected not that she needed it, she good look after herself perfectly well but she appreciated their concern.

"Well who is the mystery boy then?" asked Stephen with his eyebrows raised

"That's nothing you men need to know" Chimed in Lisa smirking at her brother who just glared at her

"Why not?" asked Jack

"Because my love life is between me, Nonna, Mama and Jo" she responded. Making them all look annoyed as they all wanted to know who the boy that their niece/cousin/grandaughter was.

"Anyway It's 8 so Jack and I should probably get going now" said Leni getting a nod of agreement from Jack. They both said their goodbyes before walking out and hopping into the car.

Leni and Jack had been driving for about 5 minutes listening to music before Jack abruptly turned it off, "What was that for?" Leni whined

"What's up with this mystery guy and why didn't you tell me about him?" Jack asked Leni Looking at her.

Leni was driving and Jack was in the passenger seat. "Well I didn't tell you because I'm pretty sure it's nothing, well to him at least. I don't really know what's going on to be honest because we haven't talked much but he asked for my number then didn't text him for a day and when he finally did it was just "Hey, how are you" so I don't really know what's happening to be honest" She ranted

"Do I know him?" asked Jack

Making Leni contemplate telling him he knew him or lying "No I don't think so" she replied deciding it was the best option.

Jack turned the music back on and for the rest of the drive home they sung their hearts out to the songs they knew. When they reached the apartment complex Leni pulled into the carpark and parked the car, they both got out walking up the stairs to their apartment.

They unlocked the door and walked in flicking on the light for the kitchen and lounge as they both turned around they saw a figure sitting on the couch.

"BOO!" It shouted now turning around to reveal it's face, Jack and Leni had gotten a massive fright and Jack was hiding behind Leni who had somehow gotten a frying pan and a knife.

The figure turned on the light next to them revealing themselves. "Hey bitch" Said Cassie from her seat "CASSIE WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT FOR! I THOUGHT YOU WERE COMING HOME TOMORROW!" Shouted Leni in a mix of excitement and annoyance as Jack finally stepped out from behind Leni.

"Well I thought it would be funny to see both of your reactions so I decided to tell you I was coming home tomorrow but come home today, sneak in while you guys were at your dinner and then scare you" She said with a shrug acting like it was obvious.

"I am so done with this shit, goodnight" Said a grumpy Jack before stomping to his room "Ooh someone's cranky" laughed Cassie teasingly

"SHUT UP" he shouted having heard her from his room.

"Anyway, I heard from Bella, because I got her number that you've been flirting with a certain captain of the men's team" She said with her eyebrows raised "What, how would Bella know that" Asked Leni acting innocent

"I asked her to watch and see if you and any of the guys started talking or flirting and she said that she saw you and Patrick talking and stuff" she said casually

"Ugh, of course it's nothing though, so you don't need to worry" she told Cass "I'm sure" she said suspiciously "I'm serious, are gonna stay over tonight?" asked Len

"Nah I've got the 2 till 4 shift at the pub" she said

"Ooh that sucks" Leni laughed "Yeah I better head off now, bye" Said Cass getting up and walking to the door "Bye see you later" shouted Len as Cassie walked out.

About an hour later Leni walked off to her room and changed into her Pjs before quickly checking if Jack was still up, He was "Night Jack" she said poking her head through the door "Night Len" he responded. She climbed into bed and fell asleep shortly after.

Despite Leni being 2 years older, a girl and his cousin she was one of Jack's best friends and the person he would go to if he needed to let his feeling's out but it was even better because she was like his older sister.

If he needed someone to help him or give him a hug or anything she was there for him, vice versa and he was incredibly grateful for that. She was his older sister and best friend.
