Chapter 39

1:30pm Tuesday February 28th 2017

Leni had made it through all of training without interacting with Jack, he and his team had come on to the oval about half way through the girls session but had just gone to the other end of the oval.

Leni could feel the tension between Patrick and Jack from the other end, she didn't know exactly what happened during the argument the night before but she knew that Jack was probably a dickhead and unfortunately everyone now knew that she and Pat were dating.

Throughout training Leni's ankle was sore but it wasn't sore enough that she felt the need to sit out, she had taped it up when she got to training with the tape that she kept in her locker, it was still slightly swollen but no one had noticed yet as she had been concealing it fairly well. She knew that of anyone found out she would have to go to the doctors who would most likely tell her that she wouldn't be able to play the game on the weekend.

She was going to play though because there was no way she was missing an opportunity to lead her team to a victory.

Leni and Pat were obviously going to tell their teams at some point but the way they found out was definitely not how they planned, it didn't bother most of them, the only people it really bothered were Jack and Murph but Murph was only annoyed because they got together in February meaning he lost the bet.

Other than that most of them were pretty chill about it, they had started to tease Patrick about it when Jack wasn't around, some of them even claimed that they had sensed something between the two.

Leni and her team were chilling in the locker rooms catching each other up in things that had happened in their lives and talking about their upcoming game. The game was against the Western Bulldogs on Saturday at 11:35am, all of the girls were more determined than ever to win after losing the last two they felt the need to prove themselves.

Leni was packing her bag with stuff that was in her locker that didn't need to be there, it turned out she had a lot of things she didn't need just sitting in there taking up space and decided it would be a good idea to clean it up, as she was doing this there was a knock on the door of their locker room.

"Eleanora your boyfriend is standing at the door" Nat Exon teased with a smile making Leni shoot her a small glare

"Okay" She sighed grabbing her bag and budding goodbye to the girls that were still there before walking out to see Pat leaning against the wall next to their locker rooms, waiting for her.

As he saw her he pushed himself off the wall and grabbed his bag off the floor swinging it over his shoulder.

"Hey Nora" He greeted pulling her into a hug which she accepted gratefully, she needed a hug after what had happened throughout the past about 24 hours and when she said she wanted a hug it meant she wanted one from him.

"Hello" Leni responded her voice muffled due to her head being presssed against his chest

"Want to go get some lunch or something?" Asked Pat when they broke away from their hug

"Yes please, I am starving" Leni groaned

"Alright, let's go" Laughed Patrick putting his arm around her shoulders pulling her into his side nearly making her trip which made Pat laugh as she whacked him on his chest

"Did you and Jack nearly kill each other at all today?" Leni asked

"Nah not today he just glared at me the whole time, but last night I'm pretty sure he was about to punch me before Charlie pulled him away" Pat told her giving her shoulder a small squeeze

"Wait what, what do you mean nearly punch you?" Leni asked in disbelief

"Well he was getting mad and telling me I'm gonna break your heart and that I'm not good enough for you and shit and then before Charlie pulled him away he looked like he was about to punch me" Pat told her casually

"Oh geez, I'm sorry, he's a dickhead" Leni whined letting her head flop down

"Hey it's not your fault, but also I'm pretty sure he just saw us" Pat said causing her to look in the direction he was looking at, he was in fact right and Jack was stood just outside the doors of Ikon most likely waiting for the rest of the quartet. In about 20 seconds the couple would have to walk past him as he glared.

Leni could already sense his annoyance, she was not looking forward to the dinner coming up, he would most likely start something and she was going to have to tell her Nonno and Uncle Steve as they were the only people that didn't know now.

She had a feeling they would react similarly to Ben and Tom who both weren't mad just surprised, Leni was also pretty sure Jack was going to get a talk from Jo who claimed that if he got mad she would talk to him which also meant she would lecture him on why he couldn't have an opinion on her love life.

Throughout all of this Cassie, Nonna and Her mum would probably all just watch, her mum and Cass would probably make bets on what was going to happen, Cassie was basically her second daughter seeing as Cassie's parents never really accepted her after she came out as Bi back in year 7 so about 9 years ago, Cassie pretty much became part of their small family but it wasn't very different to how it had been before due to the girls being friends since kindergarten.

As she and Patrick walked past Jack he shot Patrick a deadly glare and a look of annoyance, he also looked at Pat's arm that was still around Leni in disgust. Patrick steered her towards his car avoiding looking at Jack, the two got in and Pat began to drive away.
