Captains - Patrick Cripps

Chapter 6

10am Thursday January 5th 2017

Every body had been split into pairs with random people some people with people on their teams others with people from the other team.

Leni was paired with Caleb Marchbank who was one of Jack's good friends. They were told to kick and handball with their partner whilst getting to know them a bit, while the coaches talked and planned what they would do for the rest of training

Leni and Caleb hadn't really gotten know each other much instead choosing to share funny and humiliating stories about Jack, much to his displeasure.

Leni found Caleb quite funny and enjoyed chatting to him and was learning why he was one of Jack's closest friends but she couldn't help but wish she had been paired with Patrick Cripps.

"So who's the captain of your team?" asked Charlie Curnow who was currently kicking a footy with Bella she was one of the younger players on their team being only 18 years old but one of Leni's closest friends since they were a similar age.

Most people started paying more attention to what was being said when that was asked "I am" said Leni still focused on kicking a footy with Caleb who unfortunately stopped paying attention and got a footy straight to the face.

Caleb fell over in shock before bouncing back up acting as though it didn't happen but unluckily for him everybody had seen.

He stood awkwardly while his mates started laughing their arses off finding their team mates pain hilarious, Jack quickly turned to his cousin congratulating her and giving her a hug before laughing at his mate again.

Leni saw the captain of the other team looking at Caleb and trying to cover his laugh, she didn't know why but it gave her a funny feeling in her tummy seeing him laugh and was happy that she had been part of the reason why.

Patrick Cripps was currently kicking a footy with one of the twins he wasn't quite sure which one and he didn't really want to ask and look awkward so instead he settled for just kicking the footy in silence.

He had just kicked the footy to the twin when Charlie spoke up asking who their captain was which caught his attention. He turned to see who was going to answer when the girl he had been watching who's name he had learnt was Leni spoke up saying it was her.

He didn't know why but it made him happy thinking about the fact that they might work together in the future as they were both captains.

As he was thinking this he saw the one and only Caleb Marchbank got hit straight in the face with a footy, he tried to cover his laugh whilst everyone else laughed freely eventually giving up and laughing loudly.

Caleb was glaring at everybody while they were laughing making Pat and everyone else laugh more.

After everybody calmed down a bit the coaches jogged back over which meant they were probably going to have to start training properly, Pat was secretly hoping they would do more partner things in hope he would get paired with his team mates cousin.

The coaches decided that both teams were going to focus mainly on cardio for the whole training session to get into shape after a short break over Christmas, unfortunately for all the players that meant that they had to do the beep test which most of them were hoping they would never have to do after leaving high school.

The moment the coaches mentioned the beep test most people starting groaning and complaining while a few started making bets on who out of them would last the longest, by a few of people it meant Charlie Curnow, Jack Silvagni and Caleb Marchbank who most of the girls had now learnt were a trio of idiots who sadly happened to be bestfriends.

The coaches set up 2 different beep test areas next to each other one for the girls and one for the boys. Leni wasn't exactly looking forward to the beep test she had hated it her whole life even though she was a good runner, the only reason she was motivated to do well was to beat Jack so she can brag about it to him being the annoying older cousin more like sister she is.

Leni was standing at the end closest to the boys at the end of the boys closest to her was Jack, the 2 were going back and forth teasing each other.

"If I beat you, you have to cook dinner and clean the kitchen for the next week and if you win I cook dinner and clean the kitchen for the week " said Leni to Jack "Sure, I know I'll beat you anyway" he said after contemplating for a second both teams who had been listening to the conversation oohed starting to wonder who would win out of the 2.

They were both extremely confident that they would beat each other and there was a lot at risk because neither of them particularly felt like cleaning, cooking they were both okay with but they both hated cleaning.

Pat wasn't annoyed they were going to do the beep test but he wasn't really excited either. He was looking forward to seeing who would last the longest and was interested in the bets Marchy, Charlie and Jsos had made.

The bet they had made was the person who dropped out first had to get 3 buckets of ice water dropped on them while fully dressed, the person who dropped out second had to post an embarrassing photo of themselves on their story and leave it up for the day and whoever stayed the longest got to choose the photo to be put up and got to tip the water on the other.

Pat also listened to the bet formed between Jack and Leni he was interested to see how well she did he had a rough idea of Jack's ability seeing as he was on the team last year but he didn't know about Leni surely she was decent seeing as she was on the team.

Yet again his team mates cousin and captain of the other team was on his mind.

A/N 1040 WORDS. THERE WILL BE CRIPPA AND LENI CONTENT SOON! I'm probably not going to be updating on Monday because it will be my birthday but I'll see how I feel, sorry this chapter is kinda short. i havent read through tis so let me know if there are any mistakes
