Chapter 26

9:30pm Friday February 3rd 2017

Winning. Its a great feeling, everyone loves to win sometimes if not all the time and thats just what the Carlton Women's team had just done.

They had just won the first ever AFLW game in history.

The feeling in the locker room was amazing there was music playing and everyone was chatting and laughing with eachother as well as other team mates family members and friends, Leni was with her family in a corner getting congratulated and praised.

She was already becoming another famous number 1 of Silvagni heritage only her last name was Torelle but that didn't change a thing, if anything people probably assumed her last name was Silvagni with her skill and recognition.

She was beginning to make a name of herself, she had scored a goal and been very involved through out the game as well as being the captain, she hoped that by the end of her career she wouldn't just be another famous player of the Silvagni player but instead be known as Eleanora Torelle.

"You did great Len" her mum told her still hugging her like she had been since they got to the locker room

"Lisa move I wanna give her a hug" Stephen said shoving his sister away and giving his niece a hug

"You need to tackle a bit more, Collingwood deserve it" He whispered into her ear earning himself a laugh from Leni and a look from Jo who were the only 2 who heard him

After congratulations from everyone and a few tips here and there from Steve and Serge she was able to escape and talk to her team mates and their families as well as others in the room. Eventually she was able to spot Patrick and walked over to where he was standing.

"Watcha doing?" She asked snapping him out of his trance and standing next to him

"Looking around, anyway You did great out there" He told her leaning in to give her a hug

"Thanks, I'm just glad we won" She said accepting the hug

"Everyone knew you would" He told her looking down at her as she observed everyone in the room

"Yeah but its like a weight being lifted off my shoulders, I would hate it if I lead us to a loss instead of a win for our first game and my first time being a captain" She said to him spilling out what she was feeling

"I can imagine but now you don't need to think about losing Cause you won" He told her looking directly into her eyes

Leni looked up and saw him looking straight at her both of them just staring for a bit, admiring each other, Leni had butterflies in her stomach looking up at him

"Oi Leni come her" Ben shouted from the other side of the room snapping them both out of their trance making them both blush as Leni awkwardly said goodbye before walking over to her little cousin.

As Leni walked away Darcy, Bella, Tilly, Murph and Jacob all went over to Pat and began teasing them, the five all having been watching the interaction between the 2 eagerly.

Leni and Jack had decided to go back to their families house to chill and most likely stay the night since neither could really be bothered driving home after 11.

Leni, Jack, Tom and Ben were all sitting on Jack's floor of room talking and laughing, Jack was currently telling them why you shouldn't move out claiming living with Leni isn't great because she makes him clean his room as Leni was defending herself saying that she didn't want to have to see his room as a pig sty.

"Yeah well mum makes us clean our rooms but Leni is worse" Ben said

"I'm not that bad" Leni said slightly offended

"Yeah you are" All three boys said at the same time

"You walked into my room and re folded some of my clothes because apparently I didn't do it right" Jack said giving her a look

"Oh shut up" She said with a small laugh as Ben and Tom laughed at her

It was about 11 o'clock when Leni, her mum, Rita and Jo were all sitting on Jo and Steve's bed. Leni was updating them on what had happened in her life since they last caught up and was starting to go into the topic of her love life.

"Ok so Patrick and I didn't talk for a few weeks but then we had to clean up the equipment shed together so we started talking. After that we went and got dinner by the beach then just talked on the beach together and I don't know what to do" Leni said putting her head in her hands after double checking the door was closed

"I think you might like him" Her nonna said looking at her with a knowing look

"It sounds like he could like you as well" Jo told her whilst patting her knee

"I say you should ask him out" Her mum told her

"MA, I can't do that, oh and before Ben called me over earlier in the locker room we were talking and we just kinda stared at each other for a little bit and I got butterflies" Leni admitted looking down at her lap

"Aw little Len's in love" Jo teased

"I beg your pardon" Stephen said front he doorway a look of surprise on his face

"Oh nothing don't worry about it" Leni dismissed

"Oh nah uh, who are you in love with?" Stephen asked giving her a look

"I'm not in love with anyone I was just telling them about a guy" She clarified

"Good because I don't want you dating until you're 50" he told her wagging his finger

"Okay get out you, this is girl talk" Jo said while pushing her husband out of the room

"Okay now he's gone we can continue this" Jo said sitting back down on the bed

Leni was bunking with Jack in his old room for the night, everyone had started going to bed around midnight after a long night. It was still a bit surreal for Leni, she and her team had just won the first ever AFLW game and that was pretty special.

As she lay awake thinking about the night that had just ended she received a text from Patrick.

Hey you're probably asleep but I just wanted to say congrats again, you did amazing. Can't wait to see you soon!💙

Leni smiled as she read the text, the fact that he had taken the time to text her congratulations and say he wanted to see her again made her happy, she was quick to respond with a thank you and told him she too was excited to see him soon before switching off her phone and beginning to drift off to sleep.
