Captains - Patrick Cripps

Chapter 23

6:15pm Monday January 30th 2017

Patrick had just pulled up into a car park next to a restaurant on the beach. The restaurant wasn't anything fancy seeing as he didn't want it to seem date like it was just a casual place on the beach. Looking to the passenger seat he saw Leni in her own world seeming as though she had not yet noticed their arrival.

"Nora, We're here" He called out getting her attention

"Oh sorry, I zoned out" She said hurriedly looking embarrassed

"Nah it's all good, wanna go in?" he asked

"Yep I'm so hungry and this is a night we're I don't have to cook or eat Jack's shit food so this is great" She exclaimed happily

"Is Jsos that bad of cook?" Asked Pat smiling at her

"HE IS TERRIBLE, he gave Cassie my best friend food poisoning once and she will always hold it against him" She told him laughing at the memory

The two got out and walked in, getting seated in a corner spot outside next to the beach.

"Okay so if you're a good cook and from what I've heard from Jsos at training and apparently pretty much everyone in your family are good cooks, then why is he so shit?" Asked Patrick looking at Nora

"Well he's like everyone with Silvagni genes, none of us can admit when we've fucked up, so when he does something wrong and someone tries to correct him he just ignores it and does it his own way and then it all just goes downhill" She explained with a small laugh

Pat admired Leni as she laughed most likely reminiscing about something Jack tried to cook, he couldn't help but think that she looked even prettier than normal with the sun hitting her back and the sound of the waves mixing in with her laugh. He quickly snapped out of it with a slight blush tinting his cheeks and began speaking.

"Ah so all the Silvagni's are extremely stubborn is what I'm hearing" he commented with a slight smirk tugging at his lips

"No well yes but no" Leni argued trying to defend herself

"I think I have my answer with that" He remarked leaning back in his chair a look of smugness present across his face

"Oh shut up" She said playfully glaring at him

The two of them ordered their food and continued talking about anything and everything, quite satisfied with how the evening was turning out. After not talking for a while they both expected it to be awkward and unenjoyable but it turned out to be quite the opposite.

They talked and laughed as they are their food, Crippa telling a story about him and his brothers growing up making Leni nearly choke on her food because of laughter. It was calming and relaxing for both of them to just talk and joke around with each other without needing to worry about anything else in life.

Leni was happy.

Pat was happy.

After finishing their meals and Leni payed for her own meal seeing as she gave Patrick the don't argue with me you won't win glare when he tried to pay for her, deciding he didn't want it die he let her pay much to his annoyance.

"Do you wanna go to the beach?" Leni asked with an excited smile on her face

"Sure" Patrick responded smiling at her

One thing to know about Leni was she loved the beach. She loved how the waves crashed and the colour of the water, just everything about it. When she was little her dad would sometimes take her to the beach and they'd spend a day there going to cafes and shops nearby before spending the rest of the day in the water.

Pat and Leni were both sitting on the sand in silence admiring the view which in Leni's case was the water and the sunset but in Crippa's case it was Leni.

"If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life what would it be?" Leni asked out of the blue

"Um I don't know, maybe pasta" He said unsurely

"Why pasta?"

"It's yummy, the sauce can vary so it's not all the same. What about you?" He responded

"I would eat food" She said with laugh

"Smart arse" Pat mumbled under his breath

"Pardon?" Said Leni despite hearing him clearly

"Oh nothing" Pat responded

"You better run Cripps, I'm giving you 5 seconds" Leni told him preparing herself to run

Pat quickly got up and bolted across the sand not looking behind him, if he had he would of seen that Leni had just gone back to lying down in the sand not even starting to chase him.

It wasn't until he had been running for about 2 minutes that he looked back and didn't see her anywhere and realised what she had done, Patrick quickly devised a plan before heading back to where she would be.

Creeping up on her he saw that she was lying there peacefully with her arms over her eyes and the rest of her relaxed under the setting sun. Quickly putting his plan into action her scooped her and ran towards the water.

Leni was relaxing waiting for Pat to realise that she hadn't run after him, she was starting to think about what was happening with her she didn't know how she felt she knew she felt something but she wasn't sure if what she felt was like friends or like something more.

As she was thinking she felt herself get scooped up and whoever was carrying her run.

"PATRICK I DON'T KNOW YOUR MIDDLE NAME CRIPPS PUT ME THE FUCK DOWN RIGHT NOW" Leni shouted as he laughed and ran

"Why would I do that?" he said reaching the water and sprinkling some water on her face

He wasn't going to drop her in since he wasn't that mean and she was in trackies which are very uncomfortable when they're wet so he just dropped some water on her face before going back to the sand. While he was doing that she was attempting to get out of his grip and whacking him which didn't work much to her dismay.

"It's 8 so we should probably head back soon" Leni said checking her watch

"Yeah we can leave in like 15 minutes" Patty proposed earning a nod

The two sat and watched the waves the moon had come out and it was reflecting onto the water making it look very pretty. Leni slowly lent her head in his shoulder as they talked about anything and everything.

Eventually Leni's phone rang causing her to sigh and pick it up.

"Hello" She said into the phone

"Where are you and when are you coming home" asked Jack from the other end

"I'm just at the beach I'll be back soon"

"Alright see ya" Jack said before hanging up

Leni looked at Pat and saw how peaceful he was just looking out at the water.

"Like what you see?" He asked cockily noticing her gaze

"Shut up, we should probably head back now" She said with a pink tint on her cheeks

"Alrighty come on Nora can't have Jack worrying about you" He said lightly

The 2 walked back to Patrick's car hoping in and beginning the drive home. It was a quiet drive both listening to music and chatting quietly, when Patrick pulled up outside the apartment complex Leni quickly gave him a kiss on his cheek and hopped out waving before walking inside.

As she got out the car she didn't see Pat put his hand to the spot she kissed him and the scatter of pink on his cheeks.
