Chapter 27

12:30pm Saturday February 4th 2017

Leni wasn't known for being an early morning person, she much preferred staying up late and waking up late so it wasn't much of a surprise to her family when she walked out after just waking up at 12:30pm.

"We'll look who's finally decided to grace us with her presence" Announced Tom as she walked out, sitting in the kitchen were her cousins, Nonna and Uncle Steve.

"Shush you, I had a long day yesterday" She said pointing her finger at him

"Would you like any food" Asked Rita

"Nah it's okay I'll grab something a bit later" Leni responded walking around giving everyone a small hug

"Are you doing anything today" asked Jack as he ate cereal at the bench

"Yeah Bella, Darcy and Cass are coming over, is the rest of the troublesome quartet going to make an appearance anytime today?" Questioned Leni as she sat next to Tom at the bench

"Yeah I think they're coming over later" He responded

"How do you guys fit that many people in your apartment? I thought it wasn't a big apartment" asked Ben with a look of confusion on his face

"I don't know we just do, I mean the lounge rooms pretty big and thats where we spend most of our time" Leni told him

"Neither of us have even been to your apartment, you 2 just come here all the time" Tom mentioned

"Huh, you're right you guy's will have to come over sometime then" Leni remarked

Eventually the rest of the family made an appearance, everyone engaged in conversation, before splitting off and going to do whatever they normally do. About an hour later Leni and Jack decided to start heading home so the 2 grabbed all their things before bidding everyone goodbye and going home. They stopped at the supermarket on the way home and did a big shop seeing as the two of them and all their friends had eaten everything in their house.

It was about 3 o'clock when the first people arrived. Cassie and Zac both showed up at the same time, Cassie let the 2 of them in with her key before they split and went to their respective friends room.

"Hey bitch" Cassie greeted Leni as she sat on the couch grabbing a bag of chips from Leni's snack box

"Hey, did you watch the game last night?" asked Leni, Cassie wasn't able to go because she got called into work unexpectedly but promised she'd watch the game while at work

"Of course I fucking did. You were amazing I was yelling so much my boss got really mad and told me if I didn't quieten down I'd get fired" She told her

"Oh geez, you didn't get fired did you?" asked Leni concernedly

"No I didn't don't worry" Cassie responded with a small laugh

"Good" Leni said letting out deep breath she had been holding

"But I will be at your next game docked out in Carlton Merch cheering you on so loudly the people near me will go deaf" Cassie announced

"I wouldn't expect anything else Cass" Leni laughed

It was about 3:30 and everyone had arrived, they were all sitting in the lounge mucking around and watching Fish challenge Cassie to a balancing competition after she told everyone that in high school she got the award at a sports carnival for the longest time standing on one foot. Leni was 90% sure the school made that award for her because she beat everyone in it and was otherwise not very involved in anything at sport and swimming carnivals. There was also Netflix playing in the TV that no one was really watching.

Cassie wasn't known for being athletically gifted despite growing up in a family of sporty people and the majority of her best friends family being footy players she was a lot more into fashion and arts and after graduating managed to get an internship with Woman's Weekly focusing on wardrobe and the fashion shoots.

The two of them got up and walked to middle of the room both of them walked with confidence acting like the competition would decide who would be killed or something it was quite entertaining. Leni got out a stop watch to time them so that they wouldn't argue.

"Alright are you two ready? Now remember no switching feet, you can't have two feet on the ground at any point in time and no hopping" Stated Darcy who was the judge. Both the contestants nodded with faces of determination

"On my mark, Ready, Set, GO" Darcy shouted loudly as Leni clicked the timer and it began timing

Cassie already looked like she would win as she was standing in place not wobbling whereas Zac was wobbling everywhere not really doing very well. The boys were cheering on Zac whereas the girls were cheering on Cassie, it was pretty obvious Cassie was going to win but Zac was determined and had surprisingly not toppled over yet.

"I think I'm about to fall" Zac shouted right before he fell over making the rest of the quartet groan

"HA I beat you" Cassie said cockily before walking back to the couch and sitting down with a smug smirk on her face

"Zac you lasted 20 seconds" Leni told him flatly

"I would've done better if I got a better start" He defended making Cassie scoff

"Yeah right, just admit I'm better" Cassie said

"Fine you're better than me at balancing on one foot, are you happy now" He announced

"Yes I am" She stated leaning back into the couch and changing the show on Netflix from Rick and Morty to Kath & Kim

"Holy shit, I forgot about this show" Caleb uttered in amazement whilst eating chips

"How the fuck can you forget about Kath and Kim?" asked Bella in shock

"I don't know I just haven't watched it in ages" He stated defensively

"Geez, I watch it all the time it's my go to show" She announced to everyone

"We know Bells, whenever we go to your house its always playing in the background" Darcy drawled

"Hey its not my fault its a cinematic masterpiece" She spoke

"Eh thats a stretch" Jack mumbled under his breath

"I beg your pardon, take that back" Bella threatened pointing her finger at him

"Alright Alright" Jack said putting his hands up

The eight 18-22 Year olds spent the remainder of the evening until about 7:30pm watching Kath and Kim, having petty squabbles, Laughing and talking until people had to start going home. Overall it was a good night and the 3 girls who played the night prior were still on a winning high making time spent with their friends even more enjoyable.

A/N 1116 words. Okay this was just a light fun chapter before stuff actually starts happening and i feel like this book just needed a light chapter like this one.
