Chapter 58: Invading others business

Aster had just found out everything Demitris had found, but the revelation that a seemingly heartless witch was in love was definitely new to Aster. "So you're saying that it was photos that confirmed this for you?", he asked. Demitris nodded, "Yes, the way she looked at her, it reminds me of when I look at the one I love...", he sighed.

"I think I know what you mean, but can we be sure Viper expresses love in the way that you do, Demitris?", Aster took some paper from the windowsill beside his bed and began to draw an apple. "See this, say this represents how you express love.", he then begins to draw a slightly distorted apple and a banana. "Now Viper's love could be pretty similar to yours", he remarked, pointing at the distorted apple. "However, she may feel love completely differently.", he continued, pointing at the banana.

"I see where you're going, but all I wanted to know is how Viper somehow being in love would've affected her yesterday.", Demitris enquired. Aster thought a little before answering him, "I suppose missing someone you love could have an affect on you, but I've never experienced that for myself so I wouldn't be sure.", Aster replied.

By this point, the door started knocking and Rou began shouting. "What's taking you so long? Can I come in or not?!", he yelled, getting slightly annoyed. Demitris looked at Aster in fear, "Hey...maybe Rou could help us...if he doesn't lecture us...", Demitris questioned. Aster believed Rou could offer some assistance, "I think he could help, but he think he'd feel uncomfortable.", he answered.

"You're right, maybe it's best to just tell him of our plot first to see if he has any better ideas.", Demitris declares. They open the door to Rou and he storms in, "What are you two playing at that you're not telling me?!", he screamed. The loud noise alerts Fleur, still asleep in the infirmary bed, which causes Rou to immediately quiet down and try to lull the elf girl back to her slumber.

"Please tell me what's going on...", Rou whispers. Aster sighed and confessed what the two of them had been doing, "We've been trying to figure out Viper's story, and we may have trespasses in the sorcery department to do so. Rou clenched his fist and tried to control his volume, "What were you thinking? Snooping on other people's property could get you ratted out of the organisation! Both of you will get the stick for this when Aster is better!".

"The stick...can't wait...", Demitris remarks before Aster hastily covers his mouth. "We told you because we think we figured out why Viper's so pissed all the time.", Aster reassured Rou. Rou's stance became more relaxed, "Now I'm intrigued, are you going to tell me?". Demitris took a deep breath, "I found photos of Viper with a girl from years ago, and by examining her expression I'd assume she's in love."

Rou turned to the window looking away, "Feelings can be...complicated when it comes to love. Viper, obviously being angry a lot, could say many things. My first guess would be that they can't see each other anymore, was that yours?". Aster and Demitris were astonished by Rou remaining calm and not lecturing them again, or getting so uncomfortable he ran away again. "What do you think we should do?", Aster asked.

"Make her feel welcome here, that's all that can be done. Maybe she'll become less tense if she knows that people care for her here. If you take her anger with a piece of salt, you may be able to form a certain kinship with her. If you address the problem in front of her, knowing Viper, she'd only want to hurt you.", Rou explained all he could. Demitris smiled, "Thanks Rou, you're so good at giving advice.", Rou smiled back, feeling flattered that they found him useful.

It wasn't long before Rou and Demitris waved goodbye to Aster to return to their rooms, the black haired boy was alone once more. With the advice of his friends in his mind, maybe he could try to get along with Viper, or maybe he'll fail miserably. That's something he'd just have to find out when Viper checks him over again tomorrow.
