Chapter 30: Warlock vs the cold

Rou stared his opponent cold in the eyes, his hand trembling with unfinished business. "Pity you can't kill a made man, I could've had far more pleasure freezing you, but it doesn't mean I can't have as much fun as I can.", he said, letting both his arms decrease in temperature.

"I won't let you get the best of me!", said Peter, pulling his spell book. Renegard was one of very few syndicates to promote a warlock to be underboss instead of a combatant. Peter casted a spell and suddenly all of Rou's ice melted to water.

Eve was angry at the fact that yet another Okumura member was causing grief to their syndicate, she stormed back into the room. Rou quickly imprisons her in ice to ensure that she didn't leave the room and that she didn't know what he looked like. Her screams were heard within the freezing prison.

Meanwhile, Aster and the rest of Rou's soldiers were making a stealthy entrance into Eve's office. They lowered a rope down and Aster tied it to his sword. "Stone forme! This caught to make it heavier. Demitris, hold this for me, I'm pretty sure you can take my weight if the weapon doesn't hold me.", he passed the sword onto Demitris. Aster began to search for the documents.

Rou taunted Peter, "Is melting my ice all you know how to do? Pity, really. Surely if I go colder and colder, eventually your spell won't be effective. Rou began releasing more power from within him, forming more ice with his feet to freeze Peter from below.

"Even when I stay put you can't prevent my spells. Sosificus, malificicus!". The ice began cracking beneath Peter, setting him free. "I have to go colder! Harder!" yelled Rou. His fingers began shivering with the amount of ice he'd already created. He could barely do any attacks in such a small space such as an office, so all he had left were his icicle attacks.

Aster managed to find the documents hidden among Eve's paperwork. Swifty and quietly, he went back to the rope that was still tied to his sword. However, Leon stopped him from going back up. "Hide! The consigliere is passing by!", he said as loud as he can while still not being heard. Aster hid underneath the desk, out of his sight.

Meanwhile, Rou began forming an icicle with much of his strength, the ice compressed as a sword. In response, Peter grabbed one of the weapons from the wall and charged toward the blue haired man. The men clashed, icicle against sword, while Rou kept trying to get in close range of Peter.

"Now now chilly, this isn't the time to get all up close and personal!", teased Peter as he dodged all of Rou's attempts to pull him into his ice. Rou decreased the temperature within the icicle to almost minus 200 degrees Celsius, you could almost see the air liquefying before your eyes.

Aster was ready to climb up. Documents in hand, he silently edged toward the vent up above, Demitris ascended him while he climbed. Suddenly, the feeling of cold air was felt on the soldiers' arms, Demitris began to worry, which weakened his hold on the weapon. Aster climbed faster, before the decay could spread to the rope. However, eventually it did, breaking the fibres, making it fall down into the office. Luckily, Aster managed to hold onto the vent and pulled himself back in.

After 2 mins of clashing, Rou decided to put all his focus into temporarily immobilizing Peter rather than simply putting him in a headlock. The icy man flung himself into Peter's sword and leaped once more, finding himself on the purple haired man's shoulders. "Now I'm going to freeze you from the inside, I promise you it won't kill you, you'll just feel a lot of pain.". Rou grabbed onto Peter's sides, freezing them from the inside, causing Peter to kneel over in pain.

"Now that's the end of that." Rou formed 3 ice platforms and climbed them to get back in the vent. By this time, Eve had managed to break out of his ice, and caught a brief glimpse of the back of him. She was startled for a moment knowing he was so young, but eventually shrugged it off realising that most caporegime are within his age range at this point in time.

The regime began quietly escaping the vent. One by one they made it outside, Tamara, followed by Demitris, Aster, Leon and finally, Rou. They rushed toward their mode of transport in order to not be spotted and returned to the mansion. It wasn't long after before Eve noticed the rope in her office, she was going to investigate this.
