Jacque: There son. Let it all go now. I warned you and your brother about gypsies. They are not to be trusted. That woman was never good for you, you will find a better one and together we will rid Paris of this plague. She was nothing, all of them are nothing. They are only good for stealing, hurting, and bringing heirs.
Claude stopped crying for a moment and reflect on what his father said to him. Just like that Jacque mentioned his wife, a gypsy, a witch. He felt enraged just by hearing his own father speak ill about the person he loved the most. "This is your fault" Claude whispered as he looked down and slowly taking the dagger to one of his hands. Jacque got close to grip his shoulder a bit tight and hear him, "Son, speak up. That witch was not the only woman in this great city. I will make her pay for what she did to you. Be grateful you didn't love her completely." Those were Jacque's last words when Claude plunged the dagger to one of his father's sides. Making him cough blood and for his eyes to be wide open. Claude looked at Jacque dead in the eyes, his eyes had fire in them, hellfire. Jacque smiled to see that his son has rebelled against him, he knew it was time for his boy to take the role he wanted him to have. "You remind me of myself when I was a boy. Your killer instinct reminds me of when I got rid of your grandfather..."
Claude pushed him away, enough for Jacque to faint but not die. He knew he was going to be blamed for stabbing his father. He immediately made a few cuts on his arms and acted as if he was attacked, screaming. Before that, he stabbed his own shoulder and fell to the floor so no one would suspect. Jehan rushed to the room to see his brother hurt. He was horrified by the scene that there was a fight, Claude was bleeding and pulling the dagger off his shoulder. "Brother! What happened!?" said Jehan as he saw his father fainted and hurt as well.
Claude: He attacked me...he was drunk and talking nonsense. I had to defend myself. Brother, father killed mum. He admitted it. Admitted that he was poisoning mum, it is why her mental state was so delicate. Jacque Frollo is guilty, and Fleur was to take our heritage, our money, and our properties.
Claude's lies clouded his goodness and consciousness as he kept making them up. He denied to himself that he was lying to his brother. At one point, he was right, Jacque was indeed mistreating his poor wife but not on purpose, but to prove something. Jehan couldn't process everything with ease. He helped his brother up as he was tearing up, swallowing everything his big brother was telling him.
That night Jehan watched over his brother as a few doctors tried to help him heal. He reported to the captain of the guard the few incidents that happen, arresting both Jacque and Fleur for treachery, murdering Laverne, and attempting to murder Claude. They were to burn for their crimes the night after. Claude looked all the happier but he wanted revenge against Maria, against Pierre, against every gypsy for betraying him. That was the day his heart broke and infected by the darkness, and that darkness grew all the more that night.
