Chapter 10

Chapter 10: "I saw him and I couldn't differentiate between my heart breaking and my heart fluttering."

I decided to get up from my seat and leave the oldies in the living room; They were busy talking about business anyway. Every Sunday evening, the Imperial clan always makes it a point to have dinner at our abuelo's house. 

I went to the garden and sat beside kuya Clint who was busy playing some mobile game. I breathed out and glanced at him. 

"Kuya?" He just made a sound. I bit my lower lip, glanced at him, and asked hesitantly, "Was I bitchy to Katie last time?"

"Yes."

I gasped, flabbergasted at how straightforward his answer was! "Wow! You didn't even hesitate!" He just shrugged his shoulders, still focused on his game. "How annoying!"

He turned to me with a bored expression on his face. "Were you expecting me to lie?" Definitely, not. Kuya Clint is known for being a no-nonsense guy. "Thought so."

Napanguso ako. "Nevertheless, you could've at least cushioned the blow," I uttered in a small voice.

"If you feel so guilty, just apologize."

My eyes widened. "Apologize! Why would I do that? I didn't do anything wrong!"

"Then why do you look so bothered?"

Nalukot ang mukha ko. "I'm not bothered! Who cares about her!" Quite pissed, I stood up. "Why did I even ask you! Kainis!"

It was a bad idea to ask kuya Clint! I locked myself in my room, and looked through my IG instead. Tiningnan ko ang mga bagong pictures na inupload ni Andy sa IG. It was a group picture taken today. 

I knew they were going out because Andy invited me, but I used our family dinner as an excuse. Truth it, Abuelo won't take it against us if we skip our once-a-week family dinner sometimes, but I didn't wanna go because I knew Chester and Katie would be there. 

My temper flared as I caught sight of Katie sitting beside Chester; They were too close for my liking! Are they really together now? I went to his profile to check if he has new posts. As I realized what I was doing, I stopped and sighed. 

What are you doing, Claire? You shouldn't care about him anymore! Remember, he called you a bitch. 

The memory of that night brought a pinch to my heart. I took a deep breath and pressed the unfollow button. Following that, I went to my gallery and deleted all of his pictures. To be honest, my heart felt so heavy doing that.

You did the right thing, Claire. You did well. You did well. 

I see no reason for me to be connected in any way to someone who sees me as a bitch. That night, I severed all the frail ties connecting us. 

Tita and I were going shopping so I went to their house. My steps slowed down as I saw expensive cars parked outside their house. One particular car caught my attention; It was the matte black Bugatti Chiron. I know that car so well.

For a few moments, I considered running away, but then the stubborn me refused to do so; Why would I run away? I raised my chin and strutted towards the door. 

"Hi! Si Tita?" tanong ko sa helper nila. 

"Nasa may garden po, ma'am."

Nagpasalamat ako at tinungo ang garden. I found Tita arranging the flowers in a vase. A Big smile formed on her face upon seeing me. I gave her a peck on the cheek.
