Chapter 54

Chapter 54: "Love is like a disease. You don't get to decide when to stop. You don't get to make that choice."

Leaving him alone is the best thing I could do for him, and deep down, I know I should. But how could I possibly do that when I know that I will constantly be haunted by his stunning pair of brown eyes, his picture-perfect grin, and our memories?

I just simply can't let go. It may sound selfish but I'm clinging to the tiny hope that he could love me again despite all the heartaches I've given him. 

"Hindi ba pwedeng pumasok ka sa normal na paraan? Yung magdo-doorbell ka tapos hintayin mo na pagbuksan ka ganon," Andy said, quite anxious as she eyed the house in front of us. "Lagot ako kay JL nito eh."

"If he sees me, he might not open the door. And besides, you've got nothing to worry about. I won't tell anyone that I got Chester's passcode from you."

After a week of locking myself up in my place, heartbroken and full of regrets, I finally decided to fight for him. I called Andy and asked her to get Chester's passcode from JL. The latter knows it certainly since he frequently goes to Chester's house. 

She rolled her eyes. "Like he wouldn't figure it out. Ako lang naman ang nakakaalam kung saan niya isinusulat yung mga passwords niya."

"Give it to me na."

"Bakit pakiramdam ko bumalik tayo sa college days? Ganito din iyon nung pinipigilan kita sa pangungulit kay Chester pero sa huli wala akong choice kundi suportahan ang kalokohan mo."

I chuckled. 

She sighed and turned to me, "You do know that this could break you completely if he doesn't change his mind, don't you?" she said worriedly. "You can still change your mind, Claire. Shini-ship ko kayong dalawa since day one. Alam mo iyan. Kaso parang ang hirap ng baliin ng desisyon ni Chester. Hindi na ito katulad nung college eh. Iba na ito, girl."

I smiled and tapped her shoulder. "I'll be fine. This could make or break me, but I'm willing to risk it."

"Claire naman. Dapat yata tawagan ko si Clyde at Clint para kausapin k-"

"He's worth the risk, Andy. He's worth it."

Nawalan siya ng kibo. In the end, she let out a sigh and said, "Fine. But promise me that once you realize that there is no chance, you'll call me right away. I'll pick you up even in the middle of the night."

"Thank you, Ands. You're the best." I gave her a hug. "Now, give me the passcode of his door."

I wanted to look around his house, but I thought it would be better to do it with him. That is, if he won't kick me out. 

Don't let any negative thoughts weaken your resolve, Claire. You know him. He can't do that to you. 

I breathed out and continued setting the table for a romantic dinner. I even bought some roses and candles for this. I wanted to cook for him, but I suck at it. Hence, I just ordered from his favorite restaurant. Afterwards, I quickly glammed up. 

However, hours passed and there was still no trace of him. I sat in the living room, patiently waiting until I lost count of time and dozed off.

"Claire." 

My forehead furrowed in confusion as I came face to face with a set of brown eyes looking down at me. I blinked and turned to look around.

"What are you doing here?"
