Chapter 12

Chapter 12: "You think brown eyes are just brown eyes until you fall in love with someone with brown eyes."

"He is confusing me. Big time! One minute, he was gentle and caring; The next, he was this grumpy guy!"

After Chester had treated my swollen ankle, he would always assist me or even carry me whenever I had to go somewhere, be it near or just a few steps away. 

"Why did he suddenly become grumpy?"

"Well, I kind of felt embarrassed that he couldn't do whatever he wanted because of me, so I said that I would just ask for your help or kuya Clyde's. Tapos, iyon na. Sinungitan ako. And then he freakin' walked out!" I scoffed. "Ano iyon? So annoying, di ba!" I ranted. 

Yu chuckled. "Next time, don't mention my name in front of him."

My forehead creased. "And why not?"

"Just don't. Trust me," he said, smirking. 

"Why nga?" pangungulit ko.

"Come on, Claire. Try to put two and two together." I looked at him with curiosity; He tilted his head on one side, looking at me like he was urging me to figure it out. 

My forehead furrowed. "What, he's jealous?" I answered sarcastically. My eyes went round as the corner of his mouth curved up. "Oh my God! No way! There's no way he's jealous, Yu! That's just crazy! I mean, why would- oh my gosh! Do you think so?"

He chuckled, and his eyes became even smaller. "O, kinikilig ka na?"

My hands flew to my mouth and I nodded earnestly. "You really think so?" I touched his arm and shook him. "Uy, huwag mo akong biruin. Marupok ako! I will seriously believe you if you say that."

"I really think that he's jealous."

"You honestly think so? Walang halong biro?"

He nodded. "Walang halong hiro."

I squealed in giddiness and touched his arm again and shook him. "Kinikilig ako, Yu!"

He laughed. "Just try not to be too obvious." 

"I'll try!" I responded with a laugh, still feeling so giddy.

He stopped laughing as his eyes flickered past me. "Someone's about to explode," he said with a smile; Humor in his eyes. "In 5.. 4.. 3.. 2.."

Nagulat na lang ako ng may biglang humila ng kamay ko na nakahawak sa braso ni Yu. Napamaang ako ng pagtingala ko ay si Chester ang nakita ko. For some reason, he looked pissed; His brows were snapped together. 

"It's already hot outside. And it's time for lunch!" he snapped at me. 

My mouth opened then closed; Confused as to why he was snapping at me again. Before I could gather my thoughts, he had already bent down and scooped me in his arms. 

"W-wait!" 

But he strode back into the house. Napatingin na lang ako kay Yu na naiwan sa may dock. He was just watching us with a smirk. 

"O, masakit pa paa mo, girl?" nakangising tanong ni Xander ng makita niya na karga ako ni Chester. 

Nahilot na ang paa ko kanina ng matandang caretaker ng lake house nina JL. Chester didn't leave me and held my hand the whole time that it made the pain bearable. 

"Yeah, it hurts a lot pa." That was a lie. It still hurt, but not that much anymore. But if this was the only way that I could have Chester this close to me, I would grab it.
