Chapter 22

Chapter 22: "I wish you were still just a human to me. I don't want to look at you and see poetry."

I have always been confident of myself and how I look. Coming from an influential family is just a bonus. I never felt jealous of anyone because I grew up getting whatever I want. My parents made sure that I would never feel that I'm lacking in any way.

But ever since I met Chester, this foreign feeling they call 'jealousy' takes over me whenever I see another girl being close to him. I don't like it.

I trust him, but ever since I've become aware of the fact that there are countless of girls out there who could possibly take his attention away from me, fear invades my system. The mere thought of losing him makes me feel so afraid. 

"I forgot the chords again! Paano nga ulit iyon?"

"Put your fingers right here. There you go." I inhaled sharply when I saw him touch her fingers. My mouth set in a hard line. "Now, strum it."

"Oh. Nakuha ko na!"

Katie has always been nice to me. She remained nice even during those times that I wasn't being pleasant to her. I also appreciated the fact that she reached out to me first, thus, I decided to see her in a different light and befriend her. 

And I really believed that I could. That's why I can't understand why I'm feeling this way towards her again. Her soft chuckle ticked me off. Big time. I took a deep breath and sauntered towards their table with Andy. It was Gianna, one of Chester's cousins, who noticed us first and greeted us. 

"Buti bumaba na kayo. I was about to go upstairs to get the two of you," JL said.

"Nainip na kami kaya naisipan na namin bumaba," sagot ni Andy. 

Katie smiled upon seeing me. "Hi, Claire!"

Ngumiti ako ng tipid at lumapit sa kanila. "I didn't know you'd come," I uttered. Then leaned down, and wrapped my arms around Chester from the back. "I want to eat something sweet."

He touched my arm that was wrapped around him. "I'll get some desserts for you."

He pecked my cheek which our friends and his cousins saw. Inulan tuloy kami ng tukso. "Since when did you become sweet, cous?"

"Shut up," he said and stood up to get some dessert for me. 

I took the seat beside Andy, across Katie. 

"Wala na yata yung Net," bulong ni Andy sa akin.

I just made a sound. At this moment, I didn't care about Net because I realized it wasn't her that I should be wary about. Pagbalik ni Chester ay pinalipat niya ng upuan ang pinsan niya para makaupo sa tabi ko. 

"What's this called, Bubbs?" I asked as I tried the dessert that he gave me. "Hmm.. This is mouthwatering!"

"That's tocinillo de cielo. A Spanish dessert. You like it?"

I nodded. "So much! Here, try it."

"Chester doesn't like sweet food. Nako! Good luck kung mapapakain mo siya ng anything sweet," Katie said.

My smile slipped, hating the fact that she knows Chester so well. But I put my smile back as I looked at her. "Oh really?" I raised my brow and turned to him. "Won't you really try it, Bubbs? Hmm?"

I scooped a spoonful of it, and brought it close to his mouth, and waited for him to taste it. I glanced at Katie as he opened his mouth and ate the dessert I fed him.
