"Oh my." Mom's hand flew to her mouth as she looked at me. As she opened her arms, I smiled and went to hug her. "Happy birthday, my darling Claire. You look gorgeous."
"And so do you, Mom."
She cupped my face and gave me a peck on the cheek . "I still can't believe you're 18 now. Where has the time gone by? It felt like it was only yesterday when I would carry you in my arms and sing lullaby for you."
"Awww.. Mom."
"And I thought you said you wouldn't cry, sweetheart." My eyes went to the door where Dad was standing.
Mom composed herself. "I know. It's just that seeing her all grown up is making me emotional and nostalgic."
Dad chuckled softly and walked towards me. "You definitely look like a princess now just like what you always wanted to be when you were little," he said and leaned down to give me a gentle kiss on the forehead.
"Mom made sure I would look like a real princess." I glanced at her and smiled.
From my hair, to my gowns- yes, Mom prepared several dresses that I would wear tonight, and down to my shoes were all princess-like.
