Chapter 47: "I saw him, and I couldn't differentiate between my heart breaking and my heart fluttering."

"Boyce Avenue, here I am!" I exclaimed, with both my hands raised in the air, as soon as I emerged out of the car.

"Sige. Taas pa. Kita na yung katawan mo," sarkastikong sabi ng kasama ko.

I turned to face him. "That's an exaggeration. Tummy lang naman yung makikita nila 'no." I wore pants and crop top. "Besides, I work out so much just to achieve this bod. So, there's nothing wrong in flaunting it."

"Tsk." He rolled his eyes.

I simply gave him a wink before turning to face the Araneta Coliseum. I was so excited that I even yelled and bounced around like a little kid. Hindi ko na pinansin ang pagpapasuot niya sa akin ng denim jacket na dala ko. I was too excited to complain.

"Oh. Wait!" I took out two identical black Nike caps that I had purchased for the two of us and stood on tiptoe in front of him as I placed the cap on him. "Yay! Matchy na tayo!"

The corner of his mouth just went up. "Let's go." He put his hand on the small of my back.

Araneta was completely packed. Fortunately, we got the best spot. I was one of the people who screamed as my favorite band began to perform and sang along with everyone else, unconcerned about how horrible I sounded. Chester, on the other hand, made certain that while I was having a good time, I was safe from the other overzealous fans around us.

"To my homegirls just tryin' to live it up, shaking it like they can't get enough. Remember only God can judge us. Forget the haters cause somebody loves yah." With a playful grin on my face, I danced in front of him while singing. "So, la, di, da, di. We like to party. Dancing you and me. Doing whatever we want. This is our house. This is our rule."

"Can't you see it's we who own the night? Can't you see it's we who 'bout that life? And we can't stop. And we won't stop. We run things; things don't run we. Don't take nothing from nobody, yeah, yeah..."

I carried on dancing and singing along while he merely grinned. I never expected to love this concert as much as I did.

"Are you having fun?" I asked, turning to face him.

He arched an eyebrow and bent down as he appeared to have difficulty hearing my question due to the noise. I caught a whiff of his enticing scent given that he was so close. For a brief moment, I felt compelled to sniff him. Fortunately, the spell was broken when the crowd screamed.

What the hell, Claire? Snap out of it. I cleared my throat and repeated my question.

He nodded. "This band is fantastic, hands down."

I grinned, ran my fingers through my hair, and made an effort to return my attention to the band.

"What's with the frown? I thought you enjoyed the concert?"

Inalis ko ang tingin sa labas ng bintana at bumaling sa kanya. I sighed and complained, "They didn't sing the song that I was expecting them to." Once again, I sighed. "I was under the impression that they were saving the best for last. Kaso umasa lang pala ako sa wala."

He glanced at me. "What song?"

"The one that got away. Do you remember it was their first cover that I listened to? I liked it so much that I started to listen to their other covers."
