Chapter 15

Chapter 15: "Eyes contact then that little smile."

I breathed out harshly and rolled my eyes as another girl went to us and greeted Yu. How could I forget that this guy is also popular not only in our university but in other schools, as well. I should've probably brought Cali or my other cousins along instead of him.

Yu turned to me with an amused smile. "Now you regret dragging me." My lips parted. Did I just voice out my thoughts out loud. "Yes, you did."

"Did I say that out loud again?" I asked, confused.

He laughed and shook his head. "You're just easy to read."

I sighed. "I swear if another girl walks up to you again, I won't hold back anymore. Gosh. I just want a quiet walk!"

"What's the matter?"

I frowned. "Chester."

"Another misunderstanding, I see."

My face crumpled even more. "It's not a misunderstanding. How could he not message or call me the whole day! And yes, I thought he was busy, too. So me, being understanding and considerate, I didn't bother him! But guess what! He wasn't! Because if he were, then why did he have time for Katie!"

I breathed out harshly and crossed my arms. "I saw their photo together. He was even holding his phone in the picture, but it didn't even cross his mind to call me!"

He grimaced and scratched his forehead. "You know what I think?" I glanced at him. "You should hear him out first. And.. I think we should head back or I might lose a friend."

My forehead creased in confusion. He showed me his phone; Chester is calling!

Umirap ako. "Let him be! Let's eat there. I wanna try the street food." 

"But, Claire-"

"Let's go!" 

I held his arm and dragged him again. Kumain kami ng fish ball at mangga habang naglalakad. Ikinwento pa niya na gumagawa sila ng wax ball mula sa natunaw na kandila. Since I had no idea how it was done, he showed it to me. Nagpasintabi pa siya sa kinuhanan niya ng nalusaw na kandila. 

"I wanna try it, too! Let's go back!"

Natawa siya at nagpahila sa akin. Wala na sa labas sina Kuya Clyde pagbalik namin. They probably went back inside. Hila-hila ko pa rin si Yu pagpasok namin sa musuleo ni Lola. 

"Claire, where have you been?" 

Hinila ko si Yu palapit kay Dad. "We just walked around, Dad."

His gaze went to Yu. "And who is this young man?"

"Good evening, sir," magalang na bati niya.

"This is Yu, my friend."

Dad's brows rose. "A friend?"

"Yes." I knew what he was thinking, so I shook my head, trying to tell him that he thought wrong. He just raised his brows and smiled a bit.

"It's nice to meet you, sir."

Dad shook his hand. "Same here, young man."

"Dad, look at this wax ball! Yu taught me how to do this," I exclaimed showing him the wax ball that Yu made for me. "I'm gonna make one, too!" Lumapit ako sa mga kandila kasunod si Yu.

"Be caref-"

"Aww!" Nakangiwing tiningnan ko ang napasong daliri. 

"Let me see."
