Chapter 55: "I dream of you, even when I'm wide awake."

I stood in front of the mirror, checking my outfit—a yellow below-the-knee dress that accentuated my white-complexioned skin, and sandals. I decided against wearing makeup since I wasn't in the mood.

As I stepped outside, I noticed Chester getting into his car. Without hesitation, I strolled over to his car, opened the door, and slid inside. He turned to me with a creased forehead.

I raised my brow. "What? Do you expect me to take a taxi when we're heading to the same place?"

He sighed. "Seatbelt."

On our way to Xander's house, I wanted to give him a silent treatment, so he'd know that I was sulking. But minutes passed and I just found myself breaking the silence.

"Did you enjoy the movie?"

"What movie?"

I rolled my eyes. "The movie you watched with Stella last Sunday. It's so sweet naman that you still found time to watch a movie with her despite being so busy."

I secretly grimaced as it unintentionally came out sarcastic.

His forehead furrowed. "What made you think I went out to watch a movie with her?"

"Sabi niya." My eyes widened as I realized that Stella had lied to me. "Wait. You didn't?"

He shook his head.

I gasped. "Ugh! That liar! I shouldn't have believed her!"

"Kaya pala ilang araw ka ng nagmamaldita."

Convinced that she went out to watch a movie with Stella, I had been acting up lately such as shooting him an icy glare whenever our eyes met. But having said that, I still prepared his meals and clothes.

"If you had just come home early that day, you would have known that I didn't leave," he said, throwing me a reprimanding look.

In the light of my annoyance and jealousy, I decided to go to abuelita's house and spend time with her. But since I also enjoyed our conversation, I lost track of time, and ended up staying very late.

I pouted and rested my back against the seat as I stared out the window, annoyed with the fact that I wasted days sulking over nothing.

"You still have it."

Bumaling ako sa kanya at binigyan siya ng nagtatanong na tingin. He gave me a sideways glance and said, "Piercing."

Absentmindedly, I held the industrial piercing he had given me and said, "Of course."

Sinulyapan ko siya. He still wears piercings, but I haven't seen him with his industrial piercing since he returned from London. I couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness, wondering if he had discarded it.

"D-do you still have yours?"

He only gave me a sideways glance. I was tempted to press for a response, but I decided against it; afraid that his answer would hurt me.

"Ang perfect ng outfit natin today ah," Sea exclaimed as she plopped down beside me on the couch. "Bare-faced pero pak sa ganda. Ang kinis-kinis. Gandang natural!"

"So true," Andy agreed, nodding while munching on some fruits.

"Medyo may pagka-shit nga lang yung expression ng face," dagdag niya.
