Chapter 16- 2nd Semester

Commentators POV

"It's good to have you all back today for some College Pokemon Battling action! Today we have an intriguing matchup, where the white hot Pasio University team will play host to Driftveil Tech! Let's set the stage, starting for Pasio University as usual..."

Brendan POV

I stood at the center of the field and began to excite the crowd by jumping up and down to the beat of the music playing on the field. The crowd got in to a rythm and Elio bumped in to me before we jumped up and down in sync again. Calem was talking to Serena as usual. I swear I don't know how he lived without her. Anyway. We have a match to win. I took my place and fist bumped Calem as he sat next to me, then reached over and fist bumped Elio. I then ran over to our subs for today in the forms of Victor, Hilbert, and Dawn. I high fived each of them and we all yelled before I took my place once again. Let's get this done. The battle began and the combination of My and Elio's aggression paired with Calem's support and shotcalling got us up to a 3-0 lead in almost no time. We were truly firing on all cylinders. Elio went down unfortunately but Hilbert came in and filled seamlessly to get us to 5-1. Unfortunately Calem fell here, followed by Hilbert, but Dawn, Victor and I got it done. 6-3 for Pasio.

Commentators POV

"And an unbelievable display of heart from Brendan and Sceptile as they bring it home for Pasio 6-3! This team could be a real threat at year's end. Underestimate these Freshmen at your own peril!" I yelled as I watched the events unfolding in front of my eyes. That team grows more and more every time they step out to the field. Barring any major setbacks, I could see them quite possibly making Top 8 in the nation at the end of the year with a little luck. One thing is for sure though. What a fun team this is.

May POV

I ran to the field and hugged Brendan, "That was great! You didn't even have to mega evolve!" He smiled, "Yup! Keeping that as an ace up my sleeve. Hey uh, do you by chance want to grab a pizza later?" I reeled a bit, usually I'm the one setting up events and the like..."Er- Yeah Brendan that sounds fun! If you're not too caught up with your new found fame." I said winking at him. He groaned, "May I told you that I'm not famous..." I giggled, "Well you sure seem to be. I'll see you later Brendan." He smiled as he walked away, "Yeah. See ya May."

Elio POV

"So what's the plan for today Lillie?" I asked as Lillie and I strolled down a sidewalk exiting the stadium she looked over, "Oh geez, I don't know... I have a class later but after that I'll be free." I smiled, "Oh yeah? You want to study together at the fountain?" She nodded, then paused, "Huh. Never knew you to be the studious type Elio. But yes. That sounds good." I chuckled, "Well I figured I probably should be. Gives me something else to do with my girlfriend y'know?" Lillie smiled, "You're always so sweet Elio..." I put my arm around her, "Well it gives me joy to see you happy, so I always try to keep it that way." Lillie giggled, "Trust me Elio. I'm really happy now." I smiled and then we continued walking.

Serena POV

I waited outside the locker room for Calem who arrived moments later. "Calem! Great work today!" I said as I threw myself on him. He reeled in shock but then chuckled, "Hah. You scared me there Serena. I'm so glad you're here." I nodded, "Of course Calem, I'm your girlfriend, I like to support you." He smiled and shook his head, "Whatever in the world I did to deserve you..." I smiled and hugged him again, "You're such a nice guy Calem, I'm just really thankful everyday that you feel the same." He looked up, "Yeah. Trust me I am too. Hey, unrelated, do you happen to know if Brendan has any plans later?" I shrugged, "I think I heard May say that she was going to get some pizza with him later. Calem smirked, "Oh. Good. Yeah I was gonna do something similar. After that effort today I felt like I owed him a dinner but I guess he got that covered." I put my hands on my hips, "You don't owe anyone anything. But that is nice of you I suppose." He shrugged, "I try."

May POV

I ran out to the fountain where I thought I heard Lillie was, I was dressed up in a nice red dress I owned as the pizza place I was taking Brendan to was actually rather fancy. I stopped when I saw the cap that Lillie had gotten Elio fixed to the ladders head. "Lillie!" She looked up from the book that she and Elio were looking at together, "Hm? Oh! Hi May! You look beautiful." I smiled, "Oh. Thanks! Uh.. I actually meant to ask you... I mean you know I'm going to dinner with Brendan, do you- have any advice to ask-.... asking him out..." Lillie frowned, "Oh... I wish I did I'm sorry... Elio did all the hard work here..." I sighed, "Alright I'll just wing It-" Elio turned around, "Oh. I uh- I know you didn't ask me but I think you should just go for it yknow. It is what it is whatever he says. I'm really glad I did personally so... Yeah just... When there's a lull in conversation you can talk to him about it." I paused, Lillie looked at him in a mixture of pride and shock. I stuttered, "That's... Really helpful actually Elio thank you." He nodded, "Sure. Good luck. Also trust me. I think it'll end up the way you hope." I nodded and then headed to the restaurant as I heard Lillie begin, "Every time something comes out of your mouth you show me something I didn't know you had in you..." I giggled.

I arrived to the restaurant minutes later. I scanned the room and couldn't see Brendan. Maybe he's not here yet... "Hi May." I heard from behind me. I looked back and Brendan was dressed in much fancier clothes than he usually wears, "W-wowh..." I stuttered mindlessly, he looked to me, "Huh?" I shook my head as my cheeks turned red, "Nothing! You ready to find our seats?" He nodded, "Sure." We both sat down in a booth and ordered our food. I looked over to Brendan, "So uh... How was your day?" He shrugged, "It was alright. Everyone wants to talk about the match today, but I kinda just want to focus on what I'm doing y'know." I nodded slowly, "I guess I can see that." He smiled, "That's why I like being with you May!" I reeled, I really need to play it cool, I do stuff with him all the time I mean this isn't particularly unusual..."I-... That means a lot to me Brendan." He looked at me, "You don't usually say stuff like that unless I'm down May...are...are you alright?" I sighed and looked down, "Brendan I..." "Here's your pizza, enjoy!" The waiter unknowingly interrupted. Brendan looked up, "Thanks!" He then looked to me, I probably looked really deflated because now I want to back out but I think it's too late. I looked up to meet his gaze. "Brendan...would you ever be able to... consider me as...y'know..." He looked at me worriedly as I struggled to form words. I stared at the floor, "maybe you...would want to call me your... girlfriend..." I continued to look at the floor. I didn't want to see the nightmare reaction I had come up with in my head. I heard him finally reply, "Yeah. Yeah actually I was hoping you'd ask before I had to." I looked up, "R-really!?" He nodded, "Yeah May. You're my best friend. There's no one I'd rather spend my whole life with." I leaned over the table and kissed him on the cheek. He smiled, "Thanks a lot May! Guess this means we'll be going out together a lot more huh?" I nodded, "Hope so! Wait till we tell our parents..." Brendan scratched his head, "Mom and Dad definitely thought it would happen sooner I'd bet." I giggled, "Well good. I'm glad it happened now."
