Chapter 28- Back In Business

Victor POV

I stirred my tea and looked across the table at Marnie, who was appearing the way she usually did in public. Shy, a little nervous as well. I looked over to her, "You want to go back to Spikemuth? I know you don't like people." She looked up, "That's nice of yeh Victor. I'm ok though." I looked over to another table and The attention of the entire restaurant immediately turn to that same table, Leon, Nessa, and Sonia were all sitting waiting for a meal, that's a lot of star-power at one table. I smiled, "Well that should keep everyone distracted." Marnie tilted her head, "That's Leon and Sonia, aren't they friends of yours?" I turned to her, "Hm? Yeah. But I don't want to bother them right now. They seem busy enough." Marnie smiled, "Heh. You're very considerate Victor." I smiled, "Thanks Marnie. I try." I looked around, "Hey since we're all done here do you want to go to the lighthouse?" She smiled, "Sure!"

We walked out to the lighthouse and stood at the top looking over the water. I think now would have to be the time I tell her. I see everyone else being so happy with their relationships... I want that for me too... And I don't want it with anyone but Marnie. She looked over to me, "You look sad Victor, are you... Are you alright?" I sighed, "Yeah I'm fine I just... Well... I need to tell you something important." Marnie smiled, "Yeh can tell me anything Victor, I'm good at keepin' secrets y'know." I scratched the back of my head, "Well I suppose it isn't really a secret... I... I know I'm gone all the time. We don't get to see each other almost ever... But I look forward to these times more than anything else... If you want someone who will be there for you all the time then I'm not that... But I want to be with you whenever I can... So what I'm trying to say I guess is I love you Marnie." Marnie looked away and slowly kicked out one of her feet. She took a while, face bright red at this point. "...you...you sure about that?" I shook my head, "Wh- what do you mean?" She continued to sweep her foot around nervously, "You're a really nice guy Victor, you're outgoing and social and really kind... You could be with someone much better like Gloria er... Anyone else really, I'm just gonna hold yeh back because I don't like goin anywhere or doin anything. You can do a lot better..." I hugged her, "No I can't. Even if it were possible I wouldn't want to. You're my favorite. I- you're just so sweet and supportive all the time, there's no one I'd rather spend my time with." Marnie sunk deeper in the hug, "Are you sure..." I nodded, "Never been so sure of anything in my life." Marnie looked down, "Never in a million years did I think this could happen... I- I love you too Victor."

Brendan POV

Finally back! It's been a while since I've been on campus here. Break was... Much needed, spending all that time with May was... Yeah amazing. I knew her before for a long time as a friend, but getting to know her as a girlfriend is a lot different. We made it to the center fountain. I smiled, "Well it was an amazing break May, Don't get too lonely without me yeah?" May giggled, "Same to you! I enjoyed our break so much Brendan!" She gave me a peck on the cheek and then we broke for where we were going. I was headed to the practice gym, apparently Calem had something planned for us all to welcome us back and... I assume get us ready for the national tournament? Everything Calem does has a business side to it, I like to think that's what makes him a great leader.

On the way back I noticed a familiar blue and white striped t-shirt wearing Alolan, I walked up behind him, "Elio! How was break?" He turned around and smiled, "Brendan!" We hugged, I'm glad to have him back, we went through a pretty rough time, but it only made us both realize that we'd stick it out through thick and thin. He broke the hug, "So, you spend a lot of time with May?" I shrugged, "Man... It was great, she's the best really, I expect you did the same with Lillie?" Elio nodded, "Yeah. She's amazing. It was crazy, I hadn't seen her in 5 years, now we're dating, she's amazing." I laughed, "Yeah. I echo." Elio shrugged, "So what you think Cal has planned for us?" I smiled, "Probably a strategy meeting, maybe we get to watch film, watch you put Rich down in clutch time." Elio shook his head, "Hey, nothing without your assist." We both walked in to the gym and saw our whole team except Calem gathered there, it was pitch black, and nobody moved from the entrance. Elio looked around and then to Selene, "Any idea what's going on sis?" I whipped to look at Elio, "Sis!? What!?" Elio smiled, "Oh I guess I never mentioned, yeah Selene's actually my sister." I reeled, "Wh-" Just then the lights came on, and a brilliant flash of light hit the room, illuminating tables full of deserts, and other foods, Then came Calem, in a black suit, he walked out in front of us, "Welcome back everyone!" I pointed at him, "What is... Ok first of all what is all this and then second off why are you in a suit. Calem clasped his hands, "So uh, this is all food and... Stuff... And it's to get you guys... Motivated? Or... I guess back used to being with each other?" I sighed, "You could've just said that you let Serena plan an event for us." Calem smiled, "Uh... That's... Yeah. And the suit is also her idea..." I looked around then shrugged, "Hey, Thanks a lot!" He smiled, "Cool! Take the night off, and just enjoy!" Nobody moved, then Ethan spoke up, "So this isn't a joke, you're actually throwing a party? For us?" Calem slapped his hands to his sides, "Am I really that strict with you guys?" Everyone nodded silently, he sighed, "Oh.... Well I'm serious about this, you guys earned it, that Alola trip was nothing if not stressful so... Yeah enjoy." We all broke and began to chat with our groups. Victor apparently had something exciting to tell that Gloria and Hop were super stoked about.

What followed was a fun night with the team, everyone shared stuff about their breaks, and we were all super excited to get back at it for the end of this semester. Finals are on the horizon, last semesters weren't so bad... But these ones are gonna be pretty hard. So with those piled on top of the International Tournament... Yeah it's gonna be a busy time, but one I think we'll be ready for.
