Areum gasped for the lack of oxygen in her lungs, eyes burning not only for the salty tears but also for the impossibility of breathing properly. With her nails, she was scratching Seonghwa's hand, but his skin seemed to be of marble as no scuff mark appeared on it. The woman choked one last question before her sight started to become blurry.
"H-How?"
She stammered, cheeks wet for the tears as she realised her forthcoming death. His grip tightened, the woman could feel his pointy nails inside her flesh and she feared her eyes were about to pop out of their sockets.
"H-How did you c-come back?"
She asked, surprised by her possibility to speak. Seonghwa lifted his chin and presses the tongue against his cheek with a satisfied grin.
"Actually, kitten, I have already told you: I have never left."
He replied, his smirk rapidly turned into a sadistic and sarcastic smile, making fun of her. As if she was made of feathers, the demon flung her on the floor, her body was dragged back to where she landed when she got teleported. The irregular concrete scratched her skin and ripped up her long-sleeved shirt. Areum moaned and covered her wounded arm with her hand, sensing it warm and burning all the way to her bones. She squeezed her eyes while she slowly recovered her usual gleaming sight.
Seonghwa elegantly walked towards her as if he was in a fashion show, the clickety-clack produced by the heels of his shoes echoed in Areum's ears and in the dark of the night even standing above the howl of the cold wind.
"I have been with you ever since you destroyed and buried the board. Though, it might have not been enough."
After his last sentence, Areum froze in her place. Suddenly, her bruises stopped hurting and her eyes gaped and turned to the demon, who didn't abandon his smirk. Her eyebrows were furrowed, her throat dry which lead her to start coughing so harshly she feared she was about to throw up. Despite her good efforts to never take her eyes off him, since she didn't trust him while hacking she lowered her head to give access to more oxygen and consequently closed her eyes, but when she lifted her look back, she found out with dread that Seonghwa had disappeared from her sight.
Her knees got dragged on the floor as she shifted her position to place her bottom on the concrete. However, as soon as she moved her weight on her right arm, pins and needles made Areum flinch and groan for the sore and pressed her fingers on it, hoping to alleviate that stinging sensation. Though, she had lost sight of her surroundings, which allowed Seonghwa to attack whenever and wherever he wished. But, it was too early, for him, to finish his job. He wanted to have some fun, before.
"Areum."
He whispered in her ear, his hot breath caressed the cartilage and made the woman shiver. She squeaked and coated her ear with one hand, bumping in her bum to turn around to see Seonghwa who, unfortunately for Areum, wasn't where she expected him to be. All of that reminded her of the night everything started, the party at Jongho's house, Hongjoong proudly showing the Oujia board, the ritual, the cold wind that stabbed Areum's skin and Seonghwa's voice warming up her ear and causing a heatwave inside of her.
