Areum couldn't distinguish which were her tears and which ones were the drops coming from the shower. She had been crying ever since the water started running on her skin. Nothing seemed to be on her side, lately, which made her wonder if she was in the right world.

Her daughter Hee-Young was acting cold and distant as if she didn't know Areum: the girl seldom was at home and, despite every attempt of her mother to know where she was going, Hee-Young would've only replied with "Out", before shrugging her shoulders and leave.

Areum had come to the point where she didn't even have the strength to stop her or even ask her about her intentions. It was pointless, nothing could've stopped her from disobeying her mother whenever she would've had the chance.

The only one that seemed actually interested in Areum and her mental and physical conditions was Mr. Kang and she was grateful to him for the support he was showering her with. It wasn't the same for Jieun, though.

Seonghwa kept appearing in her house or her nightmares every day, which lead the woman to live the same situation as years ago: lack of sleep. Even her kids at school noticed that there was something weird with their teacher, who seemed to have lost her light and cheerful smile.

Areum exited the shower and wrapped a white towel around her body. Her feet moved on the cold marble floor of the bathroom and lead her in front of the mirror, where she spotted a figure that looked a lot like a ghost and it took her a couple of minutes to realize that who she was staring at was actually herself.

Her fingers caressed her dark circles, her hollowed cheeks, ending on her pale, plump lips. She shivered when an image of what she feared the most popped in her brain and in front of her eyes.

She looked like a corpse.

A sudden knock on the wooden door of the room startled the woman, who jumped on her feet and turned around to look at who was coming inside the bathroom without waiting for her consent.

San had slinked his head in the fissure between the door and the doorframe, flashing her with a dimpled smile when his eyes laid on her figure.

"Hi, love."

He murmured as he surpassed the door and started to walk towards his wife with a sweet smirk on his lips. His arms wrapped around her waist and sniffled the strawberry flavour of her body wash and that smirk turned into a loving smile, when he realized that she used the same product for years, as if hinting that some things are destined to never change.

"San! I didn't know you would've come here."

Areum began with surprise and a pleasant beating started pumping in her chest, right where her heart was. His visit was unexpected, considering the fact that they had been living separately, lately, to avoid Seonghwa to fling himself on San with murderous intent.

And right at that moment, the woman realised that San was in the same place as Seonghwa, the blood-thirsty Incubus that had tried to kill him already once. Immediately, her body shook with panic, and turned around to face the man, eyes wide open and trembling lower lip.
