A/N I JUST WANT TO SAY SORRY IN ADVANCE :)

Me and Yelena had been together for a year now and we both lived at the compound. This was what I knew as family. Eve though we had a battle at an airport and saved the universe together and almost sacrificed our lives too many times. This was my family, and I'd never leave them. Voluntarily.

Me and Yelena was going as strong as ever and my friendship with everyone was else was the best. We had a pretty calm couple of months recently which never happened. But it didn't last long.

Everyone was sat around the living room playing board games. I had been sent on snack duty so I went to retrieve the snacks and drinks of choice from the kitchen.

All off a sudden something burst through the wall and hit straight into me. My ears were ringing at the explosion and my vision had gone majority black.

I could hear muffled noises in what felt the distance but I knew they couldn't be that far away. That was it my body shut down and no one could save me, just like that I was ripped apart form everything I knew and everyone I loved.

But I could still see them, I saw how Yelena collapsed on the floor after they announced my death out loud. I went to move and cradle her in my arms but I couldn't, I was there but not entirely.

Everyone was crying, but no one was crying more than Yelena.

You'd think that would be the end of the story because you know well I'm dead. But I couldn't leave until I knew they was safe.

5 years layer I was still watching over them all. They had all come to terms with my death but not all so I stayed.

First it was Nat. She was one of my closest friends. She helped my past lover come to the terms that I wouldn't be there. She decided it would be best to retire as an Avenger. For her and her family's sake. Yelena couldn't live without at least her there since you weren't.

I wished everyday that I could give any of them a sign that I was okay, I was resting for the first time in my life. I was no longer scared of death and I was still with them, but there was nothing I could do.

She still lived in the compound with everyone else just no longer fought crime as her job.

She had made new friends as well. I was so happy for her she deserved to be okay after all the trauma she has been through and you felt a sense of relief when she accepted you were gone.

This was how it happened. She met up with her new friend Van and they headed to the local coffee shop. The same one that you had met her in.

She ordered her usual and asked Van was he wanted. He ordered exactly what you always got. She smiled and looked up and I felt like that was our final goodbye.

Wanda was next she was also your closest friend. She was the first person to get to you when you led dead on the floor. She had lost all her family and the Avengers was all she had. It very almost broke her when you died. In fact if it wasn't for the Avengers she would be here watching them with you.

We had got into a argument when I died and wasn't on the best terms and she hated herself for letting that happen not knowing how close the end for you really was. We had both said things neither of us meant but I won't lie the things she said broke my heart.

I realised that they could not let me go if I didn't equally let them go and I knew no matter how long I held on, she needed to let me go. So I forgave her breaking my heart the same way my absence broke her.

Now to the one that hurt the most.

Yelena had been dating this genuinely sweet guy for 2 years now. He knew that she hadn't let you go but he didn't mind he wanted to make her feel safe and loved. At the start I hated that he was there and I wasn't but he was a good guy and cared and loved about her so much.

He came to visit my grave. He would sometimes come when Yelena would but this time it was just him.

He sat down and began his well prepared speech.

"Hi y/n, I never come here alone but I need to ask you something. I know that if you was still here she would happily be here and I would let her because from what she has told me you had a heart of gold and loved her with every ounce of it. I plan to ask her to be my wife. You are a big part of her life still and I needed to come here and tell you my plans. I wish to take care of her through anything and everything. I will always be there in the bad and good days. I hope your resting y/n." and with that he got up and left.

Just like he said a week later he proposed and 12 months later they were standing hand in hand saying their vows.

You wished that it could be you taking her hand in marriage but it was okay because he gave him the same look of pure love that she used to give to you, the only difference was that you couldn't see yourself In the reflection of her eyes.

A day later they both arrived at my grave hand in hand. She bent down and said she missed you and then her bent down and promised to take care of her. I knew she was at peace, and now so was I.

I smiled, because I knew she'd have so much to tell me when I saw her again. And although my soul hurt, watching her watch another with the same eyes she gave to me. I saw a grin on their faces and the love in their eyes, and it was enough to ease me pain.

It's now my time to rest. Until we meet again my love I whispered as I closed my eyes finally excepting that I was now just a memory.
