♤♤"The story remains so cold
It's still so clear to me
In those fairy-tale like times
I'm only filled with fear of being left behind"♤♤

Intoxicated.

That's how she felt as soon as she attempted to inhale the smallest sip of oxygen. Smoke instantly filled her lungs making her cough and double over, trying to evacuate it from her burning lungs.

Pressing her sleeve to her mouth she squatted down, knowing staying close to the ground could help her survive.

Eyes wide she looked around, feeling her heart pound in her chest as panic overwhelmed her 6 year-old self. The little girl scrambled to the closest piece of furniture she made contact with and realized where she was situated in the room. The door was close. She just needed to keep moving on her four and reach it.

Muffled sounds reached her ears but she kept going, ignoring the tears escaping her eyes and rolling down her now smoke stained cheeks.

She yelped as her knee and hands stepped on shattered glass which pierced through her flesh, making it bleed. Feeling herself weaken by the second with all the smoke, the little girl pushed herself forward and finally reached the door, throwing herself outside and springing to her feet in order to escape the smoke coming out of the house. Tripping on her feet she ran, still coughing, when a terribly loud crashing sound made her flinch and turn around, the tears burning her eyes once more.

"PAPA!!!"she screamed, staring at the house as cars loudly braked in the yard, people jumping out.

She ran back to the house, knowing her father might be stuck inside, but strong arms grabbed her from behind, stopping her just before she could step any further.

"PAPA!! LET ME GO! MY PAPA IS IN THERE! WE HAVE TO HELP HIM!"

Despite the screaming and thrashing, she was taken away and thrown in one of the cars, the man locked the door and walked away, no matter how much she hit the window and yelled at him to open up.

Another screeching sound made her look up to her house in horror and she watched as the roof collapsed and flames jumped up to the heavens.

Her lips parted, her heart breaking at the sight of her destroyed home. Yet, what really broke her heart, was the fact that her father still was nowhere in sight.

Hands pressed against the glass, she gawked at the fire and the people waiting around, barely wondering why they were so many, surrounding the house, or... what was left of it.
