Nia ran to the elevator, holding a few cups of coffee. She notices a blonde already inside. "Hold the door please!" She pleas as she gets closer. The woman reaches her hand out, stopping the door from closing. "Thank you." She smiles at the girl. "Ugh, I am so late, and on my first day too. All I wanted was to make a good first impression on Ms.-... Danvers. Which is you." "Uh, Kara is fine, do I know you?" The woman asks with a small smile on her face. "Um, Kara Danvers, wow, I'm Nia." "Yes, right, Nia. Cat told me you'd be coming." "Oh, uh, this coffee's for you." Nia shakes herself out of her nerves, giving Kara the coffee. "Thank you, but, you're a reporter. You don't need to bring me coffee." Kara chuckles, amused. "I know, Ms. Grant said that you like lattes, so I figured I'd pick one up. She mentioned you were particular about the temperature, so I had it all perfectly planned out, but then everything went haywire, and... It's probably too cold by now. I'm sorry." Nia rambled nervously. "Oh my god. You're me." "I am?" "Totally, it's... unnerving." Kara says as they walk out onto their floor. "How exactly? Am I being you now? I can totally stop whatever it is. I just want to be good at my job." "No, it's ok. Don't worry about it, let's get to the meeting." She says, leading Nia to the room.

Once the meeting was over, and Kara showed Nia where she would be working, Kara decides to call Lena. She had noticed that Nia looked similar to her and wanted to ask if they were somehow related. "I don't believe I have any other relatives around here, but anything could happen I suppose. Maybe you could bring her down to L-Corp after work?" Lena suggests. "Sure, I'll ask her to come with me." Kara had invited Nia to go to L-Corp with her under the pretense of introducing her to a friend. 

Kara and Nia went up to the floor with Lena's office, asking Jess if they can go in. "Yeah, that's fine. Ms. Luthor actually just got done with her last meeting for today." Jess says, leading them down a hall to Lena's office. They knock on the door before entering. "Hello Kara, and you must be Nia?" Lena greets, telling Jess she could go home for the day. "That's me. Kara told me about you before we came over, It's an honor to meet you." Nia holds out her hand, which Lena shakes. "All good things I hope." Kara smiles at Lena. "Of course, there's nothing bad to share." "Why don't we go down to the labs?" Lena suggests. Nia is a bit hesitant at first, but decides to go with it. Kara seemed to trust Lena, and she had been nice so far, so she couldn't see any reason not to trust her as well. 

This turned out to be a bad decision. Very bad. Lena was showing them a new device she was working on that would speed up the time for a DNA test, and asked Nia for some of her DNA to test it with. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem, but Nia was from the future. What if Kara or Lena happened to know her parents? She would get caught. Nia had made sure to go to a town away from where she was born, but it was still risky. Not wanting to appear suspicious, Nia took the test. Kara asked Lena to test her DNA as well, noticing that Nia seemed nervous about the process. 

About an hour later, they journeyed back to the machine to get the results. Lena pulled up their results on the computer and looked shocked. "Nia, 50% of your DNA matches with mine. The other 50% matches with Kara's." Nia's eyes widened, as well as Kara's. "But, you both seemed so nice." Nia mumbles as she paces back and forth. "What do you mean?" Kara asks gently, putting a hand on Nia's shoulder to stop her. Nia quickly brushes her off, stepping back. "Don't you dare act like you care." She growls out, a few tears in her eyes. "Nia, what are you talking about?" Lena asks, standing next to Kara to hold her hand. She had looked upset when Nia pushed her away. "You abandoned me. You left me at the doorstep of that stupid orphanage, and ruined my life! They abused me, and I stayed there until I was eighteen. I was hoping, praying, that one day you would come back for me! I managed to sneak into a lab and use their time machine, and that brought me here. I even moved to a different town in hopes I wouldn't ever need to find out who you were, but of course things never go how I want them to." Nia ranted. All three of them were crying now. "I'm so sorry Nia. I have no idea why we would have ever done that." Kara tells her daughter, trying to wrap her mind around everything she had told them. "That was all in a different time line. This one's different now that we all know. Maybe we could be a family now." Lena adds. Nia scoffs "No. You guys lost your chance to be my parents the second you abandoned me!" She says, storming out of the lab.
