To Infinity and Beyond

Kryptonian translations: unah: son, Ieiu: Mom, rrip: you, ukjem: love

Ever since deciding to raise a child together, Kara and Lena had decided to celebrate Father's Day by doing a family day, and this year would be no different. Their son, Kieran, crawls up onto their bed at around five in the morning.

"Ieiu?" The three-year-old whisper-yells into Kara's ear, causing her to chuckle. 

"Yes, unah?" She whispers in return, rubbing her hand up and down the boys back.

Kieran lays his head on her chest, clearly still sleepy. "Wanna cuddle?" He questions softly. He has always been very cuddly in the mornings, though never likes to admit it, always makes it seems like he's offering instead of asking. 

Kara hums in thought, as if considering the offer. "I would love to." She tells the boy, moving him to lay in the middle of the bed and giving his messy hair a quick kiss. "I'm going to grab your sister as well."

She walks quietly to the nursery to grab their daughter as well so they can all lay in bed for, hopefully, an hour more. Kara returns with the infant to find the cutest sight she has ever seen. 

Lena is laying down with their son on top of her, their dark hair mixing together with how close his head is tucked into her neck. Kara makes sure to move slowly to the bed before laying back down as well. "Happy Father's Day, darling." Lena greets, her voice still full of sleep.

The hero hums in response, her hand gently rubbing their daughter's small back. "Happy Father's Day." She returns, giving her wife a quick kiss.

The small family manage to lay in bed for a little over an hour before Kieran is up and full of energy. He does a lap around the penthouse, clearly very excited about their trip to the zoo with his aunts and cousins.

"Slow down please, love. We don't need you getting hurt before we get to enjoy the zoo." Lena tells him, ruffling his hair a bit as he passes by her on the couch.

He jumps in place a little as he speaks, "I'm just excited, Mama!" The boy enthuses. 

Kara sets the plates of pancakes on the table along with some syrup. "Come start eating unah, Moma will come eat once Quinn is done eating." She informs their bouncing son, "Once we're all done with breakfast we can go to the zoo."

This gets Kieran to quickly head over, taking his normal seat. "Can we see the penguins again?" He asks as he pours a generous amount of syrup on his pancake. 

"I'm sure we can. We'll be there for a few hours today, so we have time." She assures, preparing a plate for Lena as well.

Lena joins them at the table after feeding their daughter, graciously accepting the plate of pancakes from Kara. "Thank you." She tells the Kryptonian, giving her a kiss on the cheek. 

"Mama," The boy groans. "Das gross."

Kara's face scrunches up a bit, before sticking her tongue out. "No, you're gross." She teases.

The raven-haired woman lets out a sigh as she cuts her pancakes, "Sometimes I feel like I'm actually raising three children." She claims, the smile on her face showing that she's not actually complaining.

Kara had been put in charge of carrying around baby Quinn, seeing as she always seems most comfortable with her. She always has been a human space heater after all. Lena, meanwhile, keeps an eye on Kieran as he runs around with Esme and Jeremiah (Alex and Kelly's kids). 

"Ieiu, do you think Quinn will like ma-" The young boy cuts himself off with a frown. "Mama, what's the name for the ocean animals?" He asks, turning to Lena. 

"You mean marine?"

"Yeah, do you think Quinn will like marine animals like me?" Kieran turns back towards Kara as they walk towards the aquatic area. 

The blonde hums in thought as she rocks the aforementioned baby. "She might. Maybe you can teach her about them when she gets a little older." She tells their son.

The three-year-old seems to accept that answer with a nod, running forward a little to watch the seals currently jumping out of the water. 

Lena keeps an eye on him, watching as he talks animatedly with Esme. "Stay where we can see you, please." She requests, Kieran only responding with another quick nod before going back to his conversation. 

"If you want, we can head over to the play area once we're done here." Kelly offers, seeing how energetic all the kids are right now. 

Kara quickly agrees, "Yes, I think it would be good for them to get all their energy out before going home." She tells the woman. 

Lena nods as well. "We should definitely let them run through their sugar high after those cookies."

"True, those cookies may not have been the best idea." Alex admits with a laugh, "At least they had fun though." She adds with a shrug. 

After allowing the kids some time at the aquatic section of the zoo, they make their last stop at the playground. The three older kids run around all the different slides and climbing equipment, while the adults sit and talk, Quinn perfectly content with taking a nap in her mother's arms after all the excitement.

Lena carefully carries Kieran into the house with Kara and Quinn right behind her. "Would you like Ieiu and Mama to both tuck you in tonight, love?" She questions the half-asleep boy.

He gives a small nod, rubbing his eyes in an effort to stay awake. "Yes please."

Kara grins, beyond grateful for their little family. They walk into Kieran's room and Kara quickly pulls down the sheets while Lena helps him change into his pajamas. 

Once Kieran's comfortably on the bed, the CEO moves the bed sheet and comforter back over him and tucks them in how he likes. "Did you enjoy our trip to the zoo today?"

"Yeah, it was fun. Got to play with Esme and Jeremiah." He says tiredly, the words all blending together a bit, but his parents still understand what he's saying. 

"I'm glad buddy, we'll see you tomorrow morning, okay?" Kara says, giving the boy a kiss on the forehead. 

Kieran gives an acknowledging nod. "Ukjem rrip, Ieiu."

The hero smiles proudly. He's getting very good at speaking Kryptonian. "Ukjem rrip, unah."

Lena gives him a kiss next, "Goodnight my love."

"Goodnight Mama, love you."

"Love you more!" She insists, sweeping the boys hair back and out of his face. 

"To infinity?" He asks tiredly, still wanting to keep up their little tradition. 

"and beyond." Lena finishes.

I know this wasn't originally requested to be a Father's Day fic, but the timing worked out too perfectly. I haven't been updating quite as often as I'm also starting work on a full-length fic that I'll start publishing after this one's complete. Any guesses as to which one shot it's inspired by?
