I've Seen This Film Before, And I Didn't Like The Ending

Lena watches as all of the chaos unfolds around her. A bunch of different monsters and aliens begin running and flying around, trying to create as much damage as possible, but then she hears her brother begin speaking again.

"We're also being joined by flying foes from another earth." Lex announces with a manic grin as another portal appears, and a bunch of, what Lena can recognize as Pteranodons, come flying in just as Nyxly brings a dragon into the mix.

Just as Lena was preparing some magic to help everyone, J'ohn stands in front of her and begins fighting off the flying dinosaurs.

She looks at him confused before pausing her spell. "J'ohn, what're you doing?" The younger woman asks.

"Protecting you." The man states as he summons a portal in front of where most of them are currently heading. "I've seen this film before, and I didn't like the ending."

Did... did J'ohn just make a Taylor Swift reference? Lena wonders to herself before beginning to help out wherever she's able while J'ohn gets rid of the Pteranodons he seemed so worried about.

After everything with the fight, Lena was unable to get what J'ohn said out of her head. She decides to speak with him at the tower since he had decided to take the night shift for today.

"J'ohn? Are you here?" She questions after the elevator door opens, seeing a light coming from the security room.

Lena hears a bit of rustling before hearing the familiar voice. "In here."

The raven-haired woman walks towards the lit-up room and sees J'ohn sitting at the desk, keeping an eye on some of the more active security cameras. "Anything interesting happen so far?"

The older head shakes his head, rubbing his chin. "Nothing yet. It would appear National City is all done with the action, for a little while at least." He notes as he leans back in the chair.

Lena nods along with his words. "Good. That means nothing requires your urgent attention." She assumedly states.

J'ohn turns in his chair to face Lena. "No, I suppose not. Did you need something, Lena?" He asks, sounding concerned.

"Yes, actually, I do." The CEO confirms. "I need to know why you suddenly moved in front of me while I was casting that spell." Now she's starting to sound a bit upset as she speaks. "You could have gotten hit by it."

Lena, having already lost her Father, technically Lex, and most recently her Mother, is clearly worried about losing another parental figure. J'ohn has practically adopted all the superfriends as his children, but especially Lena. He was the one who encouraged her to pursue her feelings for Kara, actually. Granted, Lena hadn't appreciated his reading her mind, but everything turned out right in the end. She doesn't want to lose him too...

Maybe I'm just cursed. Maybe whoever's in charge of this universe wants everyone around me to suffer.

J'ohn's face softens as he realizes what's going on. "Lena, I'm perfectly fine-"

"But you might not have been!" The woman cuts him off angrily.

"I know." The older man confirms softly. "I wanted to protect you from those beasts." He starts to explain. "When I returned the memories of..." J'ohn decides to leave their names out, not very important for the moment. "I returned some people's memories. They had seen this movie and those Pteranodons killed someone who looked eerily similar to you."

Lena looks confused. "You think Lex transported them here knowing they might kill me?"

"I don't know." He answers honestly. "None of us can truly know what went on in that man's mind. If he did though, I can't stand the mere thought of knowing that I could have prevented it."

The raven-haired woman bites the side of her cheek as she crosses her arms. "Well, thank you." She starts. "In the future though, I'd appreciate a warning before you put your own life in danger to save mine."

J'ohn chuckles a bit at that. "Of course. I'm sorry for scaring you." He says genuinely.

"You should be." Lena retorts jokingly. "And I should probably get back home to Kara." She thinks aloud.

The Martian nods at Lena's words. "I'll see you tomorrow, Lena. Our little chosen family will be just fine." He assures, patting the woman's shoulder.

After saying a quick goodbye to J'ohn, Lena heads home to Kar- their apartment. That they share now. She notices Kara sitting up in their bed, two steaming mugs on the bedside table.

"Hey, you ready for movie night?" And the Kryptonian looks so soft in her NCU sweater that Lena instantly nods.

She changes into some pajamas, which were technically Kara's, before sitting next to her on the bed. Lena sips from the warm cup of tea. As soon as they were both done with their drinks, they lay down and turn on some random TV show, Lena hadn't bothered to look at the name.

The youngest Luthor cuddles into her girlfriend's side, instantly feeling herself relax. Despite the blonde's soft appearance, she's very muscly underneath the sweater. Lena's hands run on auto-pilot at this point, moving under her sweater and she feels said muscles even more, making her realize Kara will be fine...

Her family will be just fine.
