Today was Ron's 14th birthday and with Minnie's permission the twins, Ginny, Lee, and I were throwing him a party.
Luckily it was Saturday so we tasked Harry and Draco with taking him to Hogsmead. An easy and believable distraction for Ron.
"Ron's favorite color is not maroon." Ginny and I argued. I was holding a handful of blue streamers when Fred tried to hand me some red ones.
"Are you sure?" Lee asked and we nodded.
"It's Navy Blue." Blaise said as he walked past, us carrying a folding table on his shoulder.
"Since when?!" Fred asked shocked, looking at me for an answer. I smiled at the confused look on his face.
"Always I believe." I replied, preparing to climb a ladder the Fred was holding in place for me.
"It's like I didn't even know my own brother anymore." George joked blowing up some balloons
"Violet, where should I put this?" Luna asked from the portrait hole. I turned to see she was holding the cookie tower I asked her to make.
"Um...Blaise, where'd you put the food table?" I questioned looking around to see him setting up in front of the bulletin board
"Over there Lu." I smiled pointing in his direction. She nodded skipping over to Blaise to help him set up the table.
"Fred, Cedric Diggory is outside asking for you." Nigel said as he entered the common room.
"What does he want? I thought you guys weren't friends anymore." Lee said confused reminding me that I was the only one who knew about the secret relationship between the two. Well... George might know, but he's never said anything to me about it.
"I don't know, could be important. I'll be back." Fred shrugged walking towards the portrait.
It wasn't that I hated Diggory but the 'I'm not in the closet but I also don't want people to know I like boys' act he did really hurt Fred. Not that the boy would admit how much Cedric actually hurt him, especially when he said he wasn't ready for a public relationship only to start publicly dating Zacharias Smith the next day. The two already had a really rocky relationship from what Fred told me, it lacked affection and it was mainly physical...if you know what I mean, but coming from someone who actually has feelings for Fred. Cedric Diggory does not, nor has he ever genuinely liked Fred Weasley no matter how much he claims he did. So...maybe I might actually hate him a little.
It just didn't make sense to me, not that I really had a place to say anything in regards to him or his life since we didn't know each other well. Sure Fred forgot a few dates or he'd want to reschedule so he could hang out with George but in his defense Cedric treated him like a second option 90% of the time.
"Violet? Are you alright? You're hair's red." Draco asked pulling me from my thoughts.
"Yeah, just thinking about something. Nothing to worry about." I smiled softly as I got off the ladder and he hesitantly nodded. He probably wanted to ask but knew I wouldn't tell him unless I had to.
