Today I had a murder case, and to say I was anxious a bit if an understatement. But I had to put all that behind me as soon as I stepped into the court room. I took a deep breath, before walking up to the young murder suspect. I nervously looked down at my file then spoke, "Miss Windham, what had you done earlier that day?", I softly asked. She sighed, "I got up, got a latte, went to the gym, got a perm, came home", she said sassily. An idea quickly sprung to my head once she mentioned the perm, and I quickly turned around. "Before you got in the shower?", I asked her. "I'm pretty sure the witness had made it clear she was in the shower", the judge said, referring to her case. The small court crowd laughed a bit, so I smiled, "yes, your honor", I said. I began walking towards miss Windham, "Miss Windham, have you ever gotten a perm before?", I asked. "Yes", she answered, "how many would you say?", I asked, "two a year since I was twelve, you do the math", she unenthusiastically said, and I just nodded.

"Ya know a girl in my sorority, Tracy Marcinko, got a perm once. We all tried to talk her out of it, curls weren't a good look for her, she didn't have your bone structure.", I complimented before taking a breath. "But thankfully, that same day, she entered the Beta Delta Pi wet t-shirt contest where she was completely hosed down from head to toe-", "objection!", the suspects lawyer objected. "Why is this relevant?", she asked, "oh I have a point, I promise", I told the judge. "Than make it.", she said down to me, I nodded. "Um Chutney, why is it that Tracy Marcinko's curls were ruined when she got hosed down?", I asked and got even closer to Chutney. " 'cause they got wet.", she answered. "Excatly. Because isn't it the first cardinal rule if perm maintenance that you're forbidden to wet your hair for at least 24 hours after getting a perm at the risk of deactivating the ammonium thioglycolate?", I asked and raised a brow. Chutney began to get nervous, "uh y-yes", she said, "and wouldn't someone who has gotten, say, 30 perms in their life be well aware of this rule?", I started to raise my voice just a tad bit. "I-i", Chutney stuttered.

"if In fact you weren't washing your hair. As I suspect you weren't because your curls are still intact, wouldn't you of heard the gunshot?", I asked, knowing she wouldn't answer. "And if infact you had heard the gunshot, Brooke Windham wouldn't of had time to hide the gun before you got downstairs.", I said to her. "Which would mean that you would've had to have found Mrs. Windham with a gun in her hand to make your story plausible. Isn't that right?", I rose my voice. "She's my age! Did she tell you that? She's my age, how would you feel if your dad married someone your age?", she said. "You, however, had time to hide the gun, didn't you Chutney? After you shot your father", I ignored her last question. "I didn't mean to shoot him! I thought it was you walking through the door!", she admitted and pointed at Mrs. Chutney. The whole court room gasped and the judge spoke, "order, order", she said.

I can't believe what I was seeing. I just had jury duty, but I was so much more intrigued by this case than I thought I would have been. And not because the crime, but because of how smart and gorgeous the lawyer was. She just solved a whole murder case with a simple hairdo, now that was impressive. While we were walking out if the court, I some how got the guts to talk to the lawyer. "Hey um, can I just say that, that was amazing", I told the un named lawyer. She turned around, "oh thanks, um I didn't except you to be here. I love your music", she smiled up at me. "Oh thank you, I was actually gonna ask you if you'd give me your number?", I nervously asked her. "Yeah sure, oh sorry, my name's y/n", she said. "Well thanks y/n, see ya around", I said goodbye after she gave me her number.
