The Alchemist Journey of Power

Chapter 2

The pain I felt was still there and kept me from being steady but slowly I got up looking around. It seemed I was in a city. A human city. Skyscrapers too high for me to see the roofs. People were running and hiding from strange creatures. The creatures killed humans. Many were flying on some strange sort of vehicles. Do I help the humans? Or the creatures? 

Seeing a woman with two children hiding under a table about to be shot, answered my question. Stumbling over, well for the first few steps that is, I jumped the creature and ripped his head off. It wasn't easy due to the... armor? The creature was wearing.

"Ma'am, take your kids inside and find cover. Quickly." I warned the woman. Still half in shock she nodded and ran inside the first building she saw with her kids. I took the weapons from the creature, while I did my best to ignore the pain that was still there. Then I moved through the area noticing there were occasionally humans fighting the creatures. Something was flying around shooting the flying creatures and a big green creature was fighting the giant flying snake ones.

Choosing close combat as I wasn't familiar with the gun that first creature used, I began working my own way through the creatures, helping humans escape and hide. I ran into a red headed woman dressed in black, shooting the creatures. She was approached by three creatures at once and while she held them off quite well, I threw the knife in one while another got shot with an arrow. She finished the third off herself before catching my eyes. I ran over, took the knife and slit another creatures throat.

"Barton, you saw that?" she asked seemingly no one. Perhaps a communication device? She spoke English, so I think I am on earth. I think America even. Question was where and when.

I kept busy and eventually found two men. One was wearing a blue suit with red and white. He wielded a circular shield the size of a dinnerplate. The other had a far different type of clothing. He was wearing a red cape, armor of some sort and he wielded a hammer that could be used as a boomerang it seemed. His hair was blonde and long and partially tied back to avoid it getting in the way while fighting. They seemed to be doing well on their own so I left that area and kept doing what I did trying not to use my gift, as I wasn't sure if I should show all I could do yet.

The creatures seemed to understand I too was an enemy, and they began fighting me as well. I was chased by a flying one into an alley with a dead end but instead of trying to find a way to hide, I turned around, and not seeing anyone else, I used my gift and pierced the creature through his head by using the two houses on either side to create spikes, once it died the spikes turned back. The vehicle dropped and I took it. It seemed to work like a motorcycle and away I went. At first it took me a bit to keep flying steadily but once I got somewhat the hang of it, I began ramming into flying creatures jumping from the crashed vehicles on new ones.

That is until an arrow landed in my leg as I was about to land onto a new vehicle. I fell and hit the ground. Thank god for being part vampire as I was able to survive the fall but it was still quite painful.

Taking the arrow out, I watched my wound heal as did my wounds from the fall, but the energy it took for my body to do so, made my thirst grow. Just a little but still. After healing, I got up and went back to helping in the fight, going after whoever shot me first killing every creature that wasn't human and got in my way.

But I didn't find whoever it was on the ground. Thinking back, the arrow was shot in an almost horizontal angle. It had to be considering the angle it lodged itself in my calf at that exact moment. So my attacker was up high. I had to climb. Which was exactly what I did. As quick as I could, I went up until the roof. The person shooting arrows, was human. Staying as low as I could, I got closer observing this human making sure he was just that.

There was a gap between the buildings we both were on but before I could jump it, two creatures appeared surprising me. One noticed me and was about to shoot me but I broke its neck and the other was taken down by arrow guy. Sharing a look, It felt like we had a moment of mutually agreeing we were allies for now. 

Then I was thrown off the roof by a blast. And I fell again. On my back this time as I was unable to grab anything and land properly. Humans surrounded me with guns drawn. I gave up and raised my hands.

We all watched this red and gold robot like thing fly up into some hole, and then it fell again until the big green creature I saw before caught it. Apparently the fight was over now. Now was my time to shine and pass out after. I returned the block where most of the damage was, to the state it was in before the fight, using my gift to repair as much as I could until my energy ran out and I fainted.

I woke up with a gasp of air. Looking around it took me a second to remember where I was. And what happened. 

"Easy there. You took quite the fall." English again. This time it came from some man wearing glasses in a white coat. "Can you understand what I am saying?" Confused by that question, I looked around and saw several lab-coats looking at me. Curiosity seemed the strongest emotion.

"Can you speak at all?" the first man asked. Moving my hands, to sit up, I noticed handcuffs. They tied me to the bed I was on. Frowning at this, I broke the cuffs and sat up. That was all I did but some guy dressed in what I think to be some sort of guard uniform? He seemed to think I was being a threat and he moved to grab his gun.

Who captured Leona is kind of obvious I think. But how will they react to her being what she is? Let me know what you think in the comments and any ideas you might have on how Leona will deal with certain events.
