Chapter 41

LeonaPoV

I could see, smell and hear that taking the Black Order down had its toll on the humans and even the non-humans. Then the hair in my neck rose as I sensed great power approaching. Greater than before but somewhat familiar as if I had sensed it at an earlier time.

Thanos.

He must have obtained Vision's stone as well. Sensing this power in one being was intimidating to say the least but I know I can't let this cause me to lose focus. The Titan was looking straight at me. "So we finally meet." He said.

"So it seems."

"I heard stories of your existence Wanderer. I must say they were quite...ominous to my cause."

"Oh? do tell."

"When a war of realms threatens the balance of all, the Wanderer will see to the right outcome."

"Then what do you imagine happens now?"

"Seeing as your army is growing tired after fighting my children and army, why not just give up the Spacestone? You can't attack me with your gift and your sword-wielding is like that of a beginner. Only your species is what keeps you standing."

"Hm, give up an overly powerful pebble to get half of every living being wiped out? no thanks. I am rather attached to some of said beings."

"Ah yes, your mate. Does he know of the other one?" Felix joined my side.

"Felix, according to some stupid poem, I have potential mates in every world I'm sent to. Said potential mate in this world is Loki. Do not get mad or think I am cheating, I already informed him that I have no desire leaving you." I told my sweet warrior, before Thanos could cause trouble by revealing it instead. That could possibly cause a fight within my circle of close bonds.

Felix cupped my cheek "I trust you Mia Stella. Let's beat this off-brand Barney together." 

"That is an insult to Barney, off-brand or not, but yes let's." and both Felix and I fought Thanos. Felix attacked while I defended him. At one point Thanos seemed to remember he had certain powers and stopped my sweet warrior from moving. I am not certain what he did to him, but Felix suddenly began screaming as if in pain but no one was doing anything. 

"Leona, you have to make Thanos move away from Felix. He is making Felix see just what he has in store for the two of you. He plans on Felix watching you being ripped apart slowly and then set on fire without being able to protect you. He is making him believe we are all taking part in your death. Including your human friends." Edward warned while fighting off a chitauri soldier.

Shit. he knows I can't harm my mate and another doing so will make me fight them instead. Changing my cloak into a jumpsuit to avoid it getting in the way, I charged Thanos and jumped onto him to rip his head off. He let go of Felix and tried to throw me off. All I had managed was take his helmett off as I landed on all fours with a snarl. Then Thanos fired beams off his glove which I tried to avoid.

I heard Thor ask Aro why I didn't use my gift to defend myself. "A shield can only defend those that wield it. Never itself." the king answered. "Leona's gift makes her the shield."

NoPoV

"How long can she keep this up along with helping us? She must be draining her energy faster than usual." Rosalie asked. "Remember the fight with Victoria? She was rendered immovable."

"No need to worry someone is about to interfere. We should worry about Felix, he is awakening and about to go on a killing spree. He is believing his mate is dead." Edward warned. They saw he was right. Felix had woken up and charged into the avengers army. So the vampires went after him to stop him.

Loki had decided to help Leona instead. He summoned his knives and went to fight the Titan so she could take a short breath. Only his plan was poorly executed because before long, Loki was being choked by the Titan. "Hm, two of my problems taken care of so soon after one another. good. No more resurrections this time." In a last attempt Loki while slowly dying, tried to stab the titan barely managing a scratch before he died.

Seeing this happen, even if he was merely a Potential mate, and someone she considered a good friend, caused something in Leona to snap. She growled and attacked Thanos with all she had. He fought back finding it somewhat harder to defend himself now. Once he had put a few feet between him he used the Mindstone's beams again but this time she was protected by another.

Bella. She shielded her sister while Fenris and his sons fought Thanos.

"Thank you. I'm sorry I underestimated your strength." The blond told her younger sister.

"Don't be. You were right, so I may have fed from some enemy soldiers to become stronger. I saw the power of that stone when the android used it and knew I needed to be stronger." Bella admitted. "The others have taken Felix down and to Carlisle and Esme with Hulk making sure he won't cause more trouble. Not before he caused serious damage though. but what will we do about Thanos?" She asked.

"I think I have an idea. But I may need help." Leona answered with a thoughtful look.

"Tell us." Steve, Bucky, Sam, Edward, Emmett and Rosalie, Scott, Spiderman, the Whitlock coven and Maximoff twins answered joining us.

"hm, thank you but this shouldn't involve humans, the risk of your deaths, is really high." the blonde vampire tried to stop the humans from being involved.

"Think of it as our way to finally repay our debt of keeping me alive. and protecting our people from Ultron." Pietro answered with Wanda agreeing.

"And for helping Bucky heal from Hydra's influences." Steve added.

"That as well as all you have done for us without asking for repayment. It is time debts are paid." Jasper, no, Major replied.

"Very well, then here is my plan. Operation Endgame" Leona gave in knowing they wouldn't stay out of it.

I have planned to end this story in two more chapters. Of course that means (spoiler alert) Leona will travel once more. So yes she will be alive by the end of chapter 43 but at the cost of who or what? you'll see.
