It's 3 am. I am outside Luke's house and am not sure whether to knock or not, I'm just staring at the suburban house in front of me like it is a sudoku puzzle. I thought this would be simple. I'd knock and just talk to him and then everything would be fine, but if I can't even pluck up enough courage to knock on the door, how am I going to talk to him?

"Excuse me?" A voice calls, and I turn to were the sound came from, it's behind me. I turn and a man that looks similar to Luke, but definitely older.

"Erm...hi?" I say, the man looks at me confused.

"Oh I'm sorry, I'm Lukes....friend...yeah friend." I clarify.

"So you're more than friends?" He frowns, obviously hinting on the questioning tone in my voice.

"Was. We kinda had an argument but I'm here to sort it out." I motion towards where I'm standing.

"I'm Jack. Jack Hemmings." He tells me.

"Faith." I say simply, his eyes light up in recognition.

"Luke's told me about you!" He exclaims, and I feel colour rise to my cheeks.

"Oh god I bet he's told you that I'm the one who smokes and can't do math." I laugh miserably but he shakes his head.

"He was worried you didn't like him, I told him to go to your house." He informs me. The time when Luke randomly appeared at my balcony comes to mind. I thought he was just over confident; not that his brother had told him to do this. And why would he worry that I, of all people, didn't like him.

"What should I say to him?" I whisper, turning to stare at the door. Jack steps forward and puts his key in the lock.

"Just say what feels right. Apologise, explain yourself, fuck I don't know." He laughs awkwardly and I quickly thank him before walking up the stairs towards the direction I think he's room will be.

"First on the right." Jack whispers and I quietly thank him before following his instructions.

I knock lightly on Luke's door, I doubt he heard it for a moment when the door swings wildly open and Luke is standing in front of me.

His usually styled hair is flat, he is wearing a tank top and shorts but the thing that stands out the most is how red his eyes are. He looks as though he has been crying which makes me feel terrible. I open my mouth to speak but Luke jumps forwards and pulls me in to hug.

"I'm so sorry, I don't know why I said such mean things. I'm a horrible person." He whispers, obviously aware his parents must be home. I feel shock at this. Mainly because he was apologising to me, when it should be the other way round.

"No, Luke...listen." I interrupt and he shushes me, bringing me into his room and quietly closing his door.

I look around his room and notice how clean it is. Posters are placed at equal intervals on every wall, scarily equal and it just looks like a normal room. A bed, a wardrobe, a desk but what sets it apart is the pool table in the middle.

"I didn't know you were coming, I should've cleaned up." He sighs. There is literally no mess, only a bundle of clothes next to the bed, other than that it is spotless.

"This is what you call mess?" I laugh quietly, he blushes and looks away sheepishly. Usually he is so confident and cocky but now he's acting shy. I don't like it.

"Can I just do something?" I ask, stepping towards him. He nods slightly, maintaining eye contact with me. Them goddamn blue eyes. I stop so that my face is right next to his, I can feel his breath fanning over my face.

"I need to tell you something really important." I whisper, looking at him as seriously as I can.

"Okay." He whispers, I wait a few moments before leaning right into his ear.

"I love you." I whisper, I pull back slightly to see his reaction and he just looks shocked.

"You never said it." He mutters forlornly. I know what he's talking about, that night. I said I was showing him how much I loved him, but I didn't say it. I just didn't feel ready, but feeling the sadness I felt when he left me standing there, I knew it was true and I had to say the words.

"Luke Robert Hemmings, I love-" I start but his door opens.

"Luke Robert Hemmings, who is this?" A lady demands. Shit.
