part 84

 tw for the next 3 parts: death/ murder, the battle 

everything had gone from zero to one hundred miles an hour in a matter of seconds. one moment we were laughing around the table and the next, we were on the move. 

" do you copy? we have a new weather report! lightening has struck! i repeat! lightening has struck! ". i whipped my head around to the candlestick telephone we had purchased lately as remus grabbed it. harry potter was at hogwarts. " we are on our way. i repeat, we are on the way! ". he turned to us " let's go ". remus and i had previously made up for our argument; if we all started hating each other now then we were all doomed. 

we got ourselves together and apparated to the hills just outside of hogwarts' boundaries. it was dark and gloomy; nothing like i had seen at this place before. it used to be bright, and full of happiness and light-heartedness, it was almost like a seventh heaven. now however, a certain eerie mist loomed over the castle, dementors at every entrance like once before. we made our way down to the bridge and ran into the castle's walls. even though the sky was grey and murky, the sun was starting to set over the castle on the hill. 

we knew of harry's plan, we had been exerting it for a while. i knew when i heard gasps coming from the great hall that it was time to start. " guys, in here " i whispered as everyone came back and we grouped together just behind the wooden doors. 

" it seems, despite your defensive, exhaustive strategies, that you still have a bit of a security problem headmaster " the doors opened as we all walked in to back harry as he'd said his statement." and i'm afraid it's quite extensive ". i was biting back a smile which would show how proud i was of everyone. i managed to pull myself together and stood at the front behind kingsley, next to ron, hermione and neville who had remus, fred and george stood beside him as mr and mrs weasley, dean, fleur, bill and charlie were behind us. all the students had parted and created a clearing in the middle of the hall for us all to get down. i looked around and immediately felt bad when i saw the terrified faces of first years who had thought and believed of hogwarts to be a wonderful and fun place, not some crappy, dark, mysterious building with death eaters as teachers and dementors searching for those who are accused of wrong. 

" how dare you stand where he stood. tell them how it happened that night! tell them, how you looked him in the eye, a man who trusted you, and killed him! tell them! " harry shouted, making a few of the children jump. snape pulled his wand out and held it up to harry before professor mcgonagall swiftly pushed harry to the side, her own wand held up against snape. there were more gasps as the pupils of hogwarts rushed to the walls to be away from the commencing fight. 

the order raised our wands too as the headmaster faltered his expression before sighing. the head of gryffindor cast a curse towards severus and he blocked it off with a quick shield charm. this continued a few times before snape transfigured into a thick, black cloud of smoke and flew out, crashing through the window. " coward! " minerva cried;  i only hoped he heard. 

a small first year began screaming from a corner, covering her ears as she did so. harry slowly made his way over there before she stopped and parvati patil continued the screaming. " i know that many of you will want to fight. some may think that to fight is wise" a drawling voice filled everyone's ears. i winced as george took my hand and gave it a slight squeeze. 

" many of you might think it brave and honourable. this is wrong. give me harry potter. do this, and none shall be harmed. give me harry potter and you shall be rewarded. you have one hour ". charlie came up next to me and put his arm around my shoulder. 

" what are you waiting for? somebody grab him! " millicent bulstrode shouted. ginny lunged forward and grabbed harry's arm as fred and george joined her. 

" you will do not such thing " i heard a female voice shriek back before pansy stepped towards me and pulled me back with her in front of harry. " what are you doing here? where's enola? you were meant to have her. where is- ". " y/n honey, take a deep breath. she's fine. she's with my mother and father " the slytherin reassured. 

shouting could be heard from outside the great hall as filch came running in with his cat, mrs norris. " students out of bed! students in the corridor! ". professor mcgonagoll rolled her eyes as she snapped back. 

" they are supposed to be out of bed, you blithering idiot! as it so happens, mr filch, your arrival is most opportune. if you would, please lead miss bulstrode and the rest of slytherin house, out of the hall! ". " where is it i'll be taking them, ma'am? " filch questioned. " the dungeons would do ". 

the rest of the houses cheered as i rubbed pansy's arm. " she's doing it so you don't have to fight your families and pick a side. it's for the best ". " i know, just keep yourself safe, okay? ". i nodded as she hugged me tightly before blaise rubbed my cheek with his knuckles and pulled pansy away, out of the hall.

" here, give me your hand " george said as he held his out for me to take. " i know that sometimes life is too much, but it's going to be okay " he whispered as tears filled my eyes. 

fights were happening all around us, we had seen too many fellow students being brutally murdered. teachers had tried to make a shield around the school but the death eaters had already began breaking it. members of the order were positioned all over the school, fighting non-stop with death eaters coming at them from all angles. 

" promise you wont give up on us? " i asked. " i could never give up when you're here, love. just think, we're going to be getting married soon! and- and we can start our family! our own family! " he said excitedly. " i love you more than life itself, there is no way in this universe that i am ever going to give up on you, y/n. i never imagine i would have to ".

george kissed me deeply, not knowing if it would be our last.

george and i had somehow been separated, i was just up the corridor from the room of requirement fighting off antonin dolohov when i heard george's laugh boom through the space. i stupefied dolohov and ran to follow his voice, dodging more death eater's curses as i went.

a wedding. 

children.

our own little family. 

images rushed through my mind as my heart raced.

 " you really are joking, perce! i don't think i've heard you joke since you were-". i ran around the last corner and nearly ran straight into percy. 

" fred! george! ". 

that's all i had time to shout. the only reaction i had. the air felt knocked from my lungs as percy grabbed my arm to steady me. i was unaware of my body beginning to sway and my legs giving way. 

it was too late. i was too late.
