draco's pov
i've never seen y/n like this, the sparkle had gone from her eyes and she no longer shines as bright. i think she hoped that somebody would have come to take her home already but there hasn't been anybody; no one's even replied to her letter. she puts on a happy façade for enola and my mother but every time they weren't looking, the smile would slip from her face and her eyes would instantly sadden. she asked my mother if she had any letters everyday but it was always the same answer; no. she could barely sleep; some nights i would go into her room and hear her crying so i would silently go and climb into her bed with her and hold her close to me until morning. other nights, enola would wake up screaming and crying from nightmares which y/n would comfort her from after and after her little girl had fallen back asleep, she would stay in her room watching enola sleep and be ready for when she stirred from another nightmare.

mother had called for us in the entrance hall so y/n and i descended down the grand staircase, her arm linked with mine. we heard shouting as we reached the last set of steps and y/n gasped as we reached the bottom. " i demand you to leave! " i heard my father shout. my heart rate increased and i snapped my head up, thinking he was speaking to me. " mr malfoy " y/n spoke up and began walking forward. " wait y/n " i said, pulling her back and wrapping an arm around her waist. " what are you doing? ". " draco it's okay. i know him. that's toby, who you saw at the joke shop " she said softly and rubbed my arm. " mr malfoy, may i become involved in this? " she asked politely as my father turned around to face her. " i'm a little busy right now. leave ". " lucius " his wife hissed as he looked at her. " let her speak ". " fine " he said annoyed after a few moments of silence.

y/n walked over to toby and instantly pulled him into a hug. he smiled and wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her impossibly closer to him. i made my way over to them but stood a few feet away, afraid of what my father would do with her back turned and no attention on him. " thank you " she whispered. " thank you for believing ". " enough of this! i order you tell leave or get ready to face your death " father said slyly. " give me a break! i only came here to see y/n! i'm not armed and i'm not going to hurt anyone so just get off my back! " toby screamed, all of his rage coming out now. i saw my father getting angrier by the minute. " you dare talk to me like that in my own house! ". " lucius that's enough! you will come with me. now! " mother shouted as she dragged father by his arm out of the hall.

y/n and i were speaking to toby when we heard shoes walking towards us very quickly. " i hear a murder has been ordered by my dearest brother-in-law " a sly voice filled the hall. " how i hoped i would be the one to do it " my aunt laughed. " draco, move the girl ". neither of us moved. " move the girl or she dies too " she hissed. i looked at y/n and her eyes told me everything. " let her " she said non-verbally; " it's okay ". " i can't let that happen. i wont let that happen " i whispered. y/n stepped forwards and took my hands in hers. " you can " she nodded and i took that as my chance to pull her to me and pick her up and carry her away from toby. she didn't scream or shout at me to let her go, she didn't try and escape. she just sobbed in my arms. " keep her safe, don't let anything happen to her. please " toby said as i nodded. " y/n listen to me " he turned to her. " thank you for helping me and giving me a shot at a proper life. it was great whilst it lasted, but now it has to end. here ". " please " she hiccupped.

" avada kedavra! " my evil auntie shouted as the light spewed out from the tip of her wand. " no! " y/n screamed as she broke free of my grasp and ran to guard toby. the light hit her square in the chest and toby caught her as her limp body dropped to the floor with no sign of life.

y/n's pov
i was alive. i knew i was. maybe not on earth but i was alive somewhere else, i could feel it. i came to my senses and realised i was in that ' somewhere else '. i slowly opened my eyes and squinted as a blinding white light filled them. where was i? i pushed myself up from the ground and dusted off my clothes. i looked around and found myself in a white version of grimmauld place. how? " y/n? what the hell are you doing here? ". merlin, i would know that voice anywhere. " dad? ". " hello pup " he said as he appeared in front of me. i ran forward and hugged him, feeling his arms wrap tightly around me. " come on, sit ". we sat in the kitchen of the house as he took my hands in his.

" what is this place? " i asked. " it's whatever you want it to be. where are you? what do you see? " he replied eagerly. " we're in grimmauld place ". he smiled deeply at me. " but what...? ". " there's something i need to explain to you so i just need you to listen whilst i do, okay? ". i nodded as he began. " when my demented cousin took my life that day at the ministry, she released some dark magic that latched itself onto you. it is unclear if she knows or not but you... you're bellatrixs' horcrux that she never meant to make ". silence hung in the air between us as i digested what my father had told me. " so a part of bellatrix lives within me? ". " lived. past tense " sirius whispered. " she just took your life, my darling. but she actually killed that part of herself too ". " oh " i whispered. " you can go back or you can stay here with me. you have the choice " he explained as i nodded along.

" you can't stay here, it's too early for you. your time is not here yet " my father said as i sighed. " i'm sorry but i will not let you stay here. you will go back and you will stay there until your time comes ". " are you okay here on your own? " i asked, eyes filling with tears. " i've been on my own for most of life, darling. i'll be fine " he smiled. " i'll see you again soon and remember, i'll be watching from the skies. you are never alone " he learned forward and kissed my head before getting up and walking out of the door, but not before saying a quiet " goodbye ".

i still stayed sat at the table until a voice calling my name could be heard echoing through the walls of the kitchen. then, everything began fading around me until i felt myself fall back onto my front. i felt someone shaking me, i heard a lot of crying and a little girl screaming through her tears. " for heavens sake y/n, wake up! " draco's voice boomed through the the room as he rolled me over onto my back. i scrunched my face up as the light shone through my eyelids until i adjusted to it and opened them.

" she's opening her eyes, give her some space " i heard theo say as i began taking in my surroundings. bellatrix was gone, i knew that because everyone wouldn't be sat around me if she wasn't. i gathered myself and sat up as draco threw his arms around me. " never do that again, for a moment there i thought you were going to leave " he whispered as i hugged him back. " for a moment there so did i ". i could still hear a little girl crying and i knew it was enola. i quickly got up but had to grip onto toby as my vision went black and i felt dizzy. " what's wrong? ". " nothing, i just went dizzy ".

i looked to the staircase and saw enola and pansy in a tight embrace, both crying. i silently walked over to them and wrapped my arms around them both. they just cried harder. " it's okay, i'm here " i whispered, holding them close as the boys came over and also joined in on the hug.
