The silence was deafening as the entire room waited for Logan to answer the question. Even though Fury and Maria didn't understand the question, they could see the importance of the answer.
Logan let out a long sigh and kept his eyes pinched closed, his hands in fists at his side as he tried not to remember what she had looked like that last night there. He had been a prisoner that had given in and worked for the monstrous organization. He had never seen what Riles had gone through personally, only been the one to wheel her out of the labs when the day was done. He hated how often he saw her dragged around the facility, he made sure she was always wheeled when it was time for transport. He heard that someone had requested her to be killed. Logan knew she didn't deserve that but had heard her talking to herself about fields of flowers often. He knew of one that wasn't too far but wasn't too close either. since she had been left basically bare, he had taken his shirt off and given it to her. He zipped his jacket up and walked back inside claiming she had been disposed of, making sure to escape soon after in case she was found. He had met with the couple who found her and had insisted on helping them wipe her from every known database. He had to keep the third member of their soul group from destroying every Hydra base because he didn't want to risk Riley's safety if they missed someone.
"Logan?"
He looked up to see all eyes on him and realized he had zoned out.
"I'm sorry, what did you ask?"
All eyes widened even more as the burly man seemed to be lost in emotions. Sharon moved forward, placing her hand on his knee. "Bucky asked if Riley was at Hydra."
He sucked in a breath and nodded. "I won't betray her trust so I can't give you a lot of info but, yes. She was there for seven years. Five years ago, a command came down to kill her... No time frame, nothing. They wanted her dead that night. I volunteered for the job because I couldn't stand the thought of a world without her snarky sass in it. She gave everyone hell and those of us who didn't have a choice as far as being there, loved her for it. She, herself, was a moral booster. She deserved to be free. She would speak out so that those younger than her wouldn't be beat. She suffered so much so others didn't have to."
Logan shed a single tear as he thought of his best friend and all her pain. "I need to go check on her."
After a lot of convincing, Logan finally sat back down and let one of the others go check on her.
About 20 minutes later, Sam came sprinting back in. "I can't find her. Where would she go? Did she leave the tower?"
Tony's head snapped up. "Friday, is Riley still in the building?"
"Yes, Mr Stark. Lee is still inside but it appears she wants to be left alone for now. I am speaking with her currently to see if there is anyone she is willing to see or anything she needs."
"I will go see her anyway, just tell me where she went."
"Sir, you don't go where she is. If any of the avengers are best equipped to get her, it would be Mr Barton. She is in the vents between levels 30 and 31."
The whole room looked to Clint who was smirking and shaking his head. "Damn kid is probably an expert with a bow too. Going to be replaced before I know it."
"Not as good as you with a bow but.... knives and guns? She is beyond lethal. She often trains with Deadpool and myself with blades. Let me tell you, we are both thankful for our healing due to her accuracy."
"Good to know."
"Oh hush Nicky, she seems like an all around caring girl who knows how to kick ass. I am sure she will be an incredible asset to the team."
