THE MORNING ARRIVED by the Stone Table in such a long time, since Diana wasn't completely comfortable in sleeping by the dead body of a close ally of hers. Lucy and Susan woke from their slumbers too, both girls' eyes being red from the tears of yesterday and filled with tiredness.

"We should go," Susan suggested.

Her and Diana jumped off the stone and walked up to Lucy, who didn't move from her spot.

"I'm so cold," Lucy muttered and grabbed the hand that was extended to her, belonging to Diana.

With broken thoughts and heavy hearts, the three sisters whirled around and walked towards the forest, not before sparing one last glance at Aslan's body in the table made of stone. The wind was howling in their ears, and they barely had time to reach when a loud rumbling caused them to stumble on their feet; and Diana noticed the new fresh crack on the floor.

"Diana! Susan!" Lucy exclaimed.

Diana changed her gaze from the floor to Lucy and followed her range of sight to see the stone table being broken in half and torn into pieces, but the one thing that caught her eye the most was that Aslan's body was gone, leaving no trace behind it.

"What happened?" Diana asked, more to herself than to her sisters.

"What have they done?" continued Susan.

A bright and shining light coming from the front caused Diana's questions to falter, and she squinted her eyes to see the upcoming figure crawling up to be in a better view, and her eyes widened in surprise and glee. It was Aslan.

"Aslan!" the three girls cheered and rushed to him, wrapping their arms around his golden brown fur to bring him into an embrace as the lion laughed with them.

"But we saw the knife. The Witch," Susan tried to search for an explanation.

"If the Witch knew the true meaning of sacrifice, she might have interpreted the Deep Magic differently," Aslan began. "That when a willing victim who has committed no treachery is killed in a traitor's stead, the Stone Table will crack and even death itself will turn backwards."

"We sent the news that you were killed," Diana explained. "Peter and Edmund will have gone to war to avenge you."

Lucy unsheathed the knife in her waistband. "We have to help them."

Aslan chuckled at the young girl's bravery but raised a paw to calm her hand down. "We will, dear one, but not alone. Climb on my back."
