THE Dawn Treader was aggressively tossed from side to side due to the strength of the waves, curtesy of the storm they were sailing through, thunder booming above them so loudly that the sound vibrated in Diana's ears. She was lucky to remain fairly dry, but the crew outside received the worst part of the storm's wrath. Their cries as yet another wave pushed the ship sideways were loud enough for her to hear from the inside of the Captain's quarters, accompanied by Edmund and Caspian.

"So, we're stuck here," Drinian used his fingers to point toward a specific part of the large map. "At half rations, with food and water for the next two weeks, maximum."

A small push from the sea made him react in an instant and hold onto something. "This is your last chance to turn back, Your Majesties."

Diana exchanged an uncertain look with her brother and Caspian. Her eyebrows were furrowed as an internal debate erupted inside her head. She agreed with Drinian on one thing — the safety of the crew. It was the top priority, because without them, they wouldn't even be able to sail in the first place. But finishing off what Coriakin had sent them to do was also of great importance. She didn't know what to say.

"We can't give up now," she broke the silence. All eyes fell on her and she suddenly grew subconscious of what they might think. "We've come this far."

"There's no guarantee we'll spot the Blue Star anytime soon, Your Majesty," Drinian continued. Claps of thunder were fading into the background of his voice. "Not in this storm. Needle in a haystack, trying to find this Ramandu place. We could sail right past it and off the edge of the world."

"Or get eaten by a sea serpent," Edmund added with a hint of humor in his voice. He didn't receive the reactions he was searching for.

"I'm just saying, the men are getting nervous," Drinian ignored his words. He was able to walk across the side of the room while the entire ship still rocked harshly. "These are strange seas we're sailing, the likes of which I've never seen before."

Caspian pushed himself off his seat in a swift move and walked up to meet Drinian's eyes from across the table. "Then perhaps, Captain, you would like to be the one to explain to Mr. Rhince that we're abandoning the search for his family."

"I'll get back to it."

Drinian reached for the coat hanged on the rack as a preparation to walk back out into the storm. "Just a word of warning," he broke the tense silence as he slipped the coat on.

Three different sets of eyes fell on his figure. The atmosphere was filled with a tense silence, too quiet that they could hear the crew yelling outside. That, and the thunder that clapped at that exact moment ran chills down Diana's spine.
