Chapter twenty: fear

Ben ran through the forest with Yasmina, Sammy, Darius, and Kenji behind him as a Ceratosaurus charged after them. It looked like the Sorna variant but it's eyes were green not orange. "Where's Joshua when you need him?" Ben asked himself as the therapod tried to bite down on Kenji but he moved out of the way just in time.

"Get down!" Yasmina shouted and Ben fell to the dirt the others following just as a log hit the therapod in the face and it growled in anger. The Ceratosaurus then was about to bite down on Sammy's leg when the ground started shake and some birds flew out of the jungle.

"Should we be running?" Sammy asked as the Ceratosaurus then ran off. That's when the same Smilodon ran out of the bushes soon followed by a few Kentrosaurus and some Pachyrhinosaurus, along with two Datousaurus soon after.

"Yeah we should be." Ben said and he turned and started to run following the herbivores. Yasmina then followed suite and she picked up Sammy in her arms as she did so while Darius and Kenji ran on foot.

"What can cause a stampede like this?" Yasmina asked Ben and they got their answer when a Tyrannosaurus rex burst from the tree line and roared.

"Is that.....?" Kenji trailed off as Ben finished his sentence.

"Brooklynn." Ben stated however his scanners sensed that something was wrong. Her primordial ooze levels were off the charts and her eyes were glowing red and her eyes were not like that of a humans or a birds like they should be. If anything they looked like Jake's Acrocanthosaurus form's eyes but even more like slits. "Somethings wrong." Ben said and the others looked at him in confusion as Brooklynn then let out the same roar that shook everyone to the core when they hear it.

"Besides the fact that's she's acting like this?" Yasmina asked as Brooklynn then charged at them and Ben's scanners finally figured out what was happening to his friend.

"Her Primordial ooze went unstable and corrupted her DNA, the only way to snap her out of it is by massive amounts of electricity." Ben said jumping backwards out of the way of Brooklynn's jaws.

"I'm not getting close to her." Yasmina said with fear in her voice and Ben realized why. She still had PTSD after the incident with Rexy all the way back in 2016.

"Well anyone got any ideas?" Ben asked however that is when he was knocked over by Brooklynn's tail as she clamped her jaws onto Yasmina's arm and then threw her up into the air.

"No!" Ben shouted as Yasmina screamed as Brooklynn's jaws opened and time seemed to have slowed down at that moment. Ben then ran forward and then used the boosters on Striker Eureka's feet to gain some altitude and he grabbed Yasmina right before Brooklynn could eat her whole.

The two crashed to the ground while Brooklynn snarled in anger and then was about to charge at them when Ben stood up. Ben then activated the sting blades now having unlocked his weapons and he sounded the fog horn.

However right as they were about to engage each other in a duel tranquilizer darts hit Brooklynn in the neck and she fell to the ground while multiple men in masks with rifles emerged from the bushes.

Ben deactivated his sting blades and raised his hands into the air the others following his lead. They were then escorted to the nearby jungle and then it opened up to reveal a hallway even big enough to fit a Tyrannosaurus rex inside it. "Get moving." One guard said shoving Ben and he started to walk down the hallway the others following.
