Callie's POV:

My alarm clock only seems to go off when I don't want it to. I had an early morning hip replacement that day and a rather long day ahead of me in general. I had charts to close, letters to write and 3 procedures scheduled. I just kept telling myself, my work hell will be worth it when I'm on vacation in Seattle. I was especially excited to be with Arizona again.

I had been thinking about Arizona almost nonstop since Thanksgiving. The more I thought about her, the more I realized my feelings for her had come flooding back, full force. I couldn't stop fantasizing about having sex with her again. The thought of rolling around, naked in each other's arms, always makes me feel like I need a cold shower after I'm done letting my imagination run wild.

I think Arizona was starting to feel the same way. I know I started the flirty texts this last week, but she hadn't stopped it and much to my surprise, she had started sending similar texts. I knew if Penny ever saw the sheer volume of texts we exchanged on a day to day basis, let alone the flirtatious ones, I'd be in trouble for emotionally cheating.

I know Arizona had a one night stand, but it was sex that happened once. It certainly didn't justify her cheating, but it was easier to deal with than if she had shared her true self with Lauren and they had shared an emotional relationship, like Arizona and I were currently doing.

Don't get me wrong, cheating is cheating, as far as I'm concerned. That's why I was feeling some guilt that morning, as I was thinking things through.

Nonetheless, I hurried along and quickly got ready before heading into work. Penny had already agreed to get Sophia ready and off to school that morning, before her shift in the ER. Overall, I thought Penny and I were doing better with our relationship. At least we were communicating better and I felt like I had more support from Penny these last 3 weeks.

Once I got into work, I dumped my stuff in my office and headed to go change into scrubs for the day. As I approached the desk on the surgical floor to look at the OR board, I realized the resident I was supposed to have assist, had called out sick. So, I walked down to the residents lounge to try and find a replacement.

As I scanned the room, I recognized one of the Ortho residents, Sarah. "Hey Ortho resident, Sarah?"

"Yes, Dr. Torres?" Sarah was a little too chipper for that time in the morning. She reminded me a bit of April Kepner, with her perkiness. Oh well, desperate times, call for desperate measures.

"Are you free to scrub in on a hip replacement in about 10 minutes?"

"Sure Dr. Torres! I'd love too, thank you!"

"Walk with me to the OR and I will fill you in on all the case details along the way." I had already started heading back upstairs with Sarah close behind me.

The procedure went off without a hitch, which was not surprising with how routine of a surgery it is in my professional world.

During the surgery, Sarah was talking a mile a minute about herself and her clinical experiences. I learned she is originally from Buffalo, NY, and the youngest of 3 children. Her dad practices Family Medicine and she has a cat named Tigger, because it has yellow fur and dark stripes.

Normally I would have told her to shut up, but I was trying to keep her happy as she continued to assist me with the surgery.

"I know your girlfriend, Penny. We've become friends more recently since I started working in her lab." Sarah smiled, but there was something strange behind her smile.

"So, you are the new lab assistant, huh? Good for you! I know Penny has been thrilled to have your help the last month."

"We got to talking during one of our 4th year resident meetings and Penny told me how overwhelmed she had been with her research on top of our clinical requirements. So, I offered to help and the rest of it just fell into place." Sarah looked down at the floor for a moment, before asking me, "Mind if I finish up?"
