The Aftermath of Callie and Arizona

River Deep, Mountain High Part IV

Callie's POV:

The dinner that Renee, Ari and Sophia made on the Friday night we were on vacation, was incredible. It was so good, that I ended up eating way more than I should have. If I wasn't careful pretty soon, it was going to look like I was carrying our baby and not Arizona. I could definitely tell we had become more than comfortable again in our relationship and I wasn't as diligent about working out the way I had in New York.

Sure, we would go on walks or hikes as a family, but I wasn't doing much cardio, if any, and had completely stopped lifting weights. Arizona, on the other hand, had made her workouts a habit, not long after the plane crash. She was very good about doing something for 30 to 45 minutes every day, without fail. Even during vacation, if we didn't join her, she would go for a walk and use her resistance bands.

After talking with Arizona on the ride home from our mountain vacation, she helped me formulate a plan and a program to follow, especially on the days we didn't have time to workout together, as we'd normally like. 

I'd prefer to blame the weight gain on vacation, but knew it was from being back with Arizona the last 9 months and the contentment I felt by my married life. It's weird how my happiness makes me eat too much, as compared to my sadness that makes me not want to eat. I know most people are opposite of me.

After dinner was cleaned up that night, the 5 of us decided to play some of the new board games Renee had purchased from the toy store that day. We spent the next few hours, mostly talking, but playing, "Sorry!," "The Game of Life," "Yahtzee," and Chinese Checkers. As we were cleaning up the last game, Renee started talking to Sophia.

"Soph, I have a problem I am hoping you can help me with. You see, since I live in Portland, I really don't have anyone to play these games with. Is there any chance you will keep them? That way if I'm around, we can play. What do you say?" Renee was mostly looking at Sophia, but was also giving us the, "I hope that's okay?," look to Arizona and myself. Without knowing it, Arizona and I nodded, yes, at the same time.

"Really, Renee?! That is so cool! Of course! I can put them in my room with my other games! Is that okay, Moms? Please?!"

"Well, that's a very generous offer Sophia, what do you say?" Arizona had placed her hands on Sophia's shoulders as she spoke.

"Thank you, Renee!" She leapt up from the table to throw her arms around Renee's mid-section.

"It's probably time for us to go build a fire and get situated in the tent for the night. I am going to bring out my laptop for a bit so we can watch a movie."

"Okay. I'll go put on my camping clothes and grab my backpack, Renee." Soph was off to go get her things from her bedroom as quickly as she could.

"Do you two want to join us for the fire and/or the movie?" Renee had wrapped her arm around Ari while she talked. I could tell my sister was very comfortable with Renee by the way she wrapped her own arms around Renee's arms around her waist.

"Nah, I think this one and myself will just stay indoors and do things around the house." Arizona had wrapped her arm around me as she talked and pulled me closer to her.

"You mean more like, you guys are going to stay indoors and do each other around the house!" Ari started laughing at her own joke, but the rest of us chuckled too.

"You know us, Ari, we are animals when left alone." Without warning, I picked up Arizona and started carrying her up the stairs in order to make a joke. I  set her down on the top stair, as all of us were laughing at my impulsivity at attempting to take Arizona to bed.

"We are going to check on Sophia and will be back down in a bit. After that... who knows?" I gave Ari and Renee a smirk and raised my left eyebrow at the same time.
