Callie's POV:

That summer Arizona was pregnant went by rather fast. Two months had already flown by, and Sophia had been ensconced in her regime of Summer activities thanks to the help of Arizona's parents and sometimes, Ari, when Arizona and I were too busy working.

Our daughter was a busy girl and had already gone to camp for a week with Zola, she was playing softball and had taken several art classes, among many other activities. Arizona's parents had been amazing at driving her to most of her events when we couldn't and they loved watching her play softball, even if my wife and I were already at the ballpark. They were incredibly doting grandparents and made my Mother look like the Wicked Witch of the West, I mean, East, given she lives in Miami.

Despite my sister's busy work schedule, she managed to join us too most evenings when Sophia had a game. Ari had settled in to Seattle pretty easily and was loving her new job. I was incredibly proud of her and happy she finally got out from under the claws of our Mother. I hadn't seen Ari this happy, since we were kids. Even though she was still single, I knew it was only a matter of time before she found someone she wanted to date and maybe would want to settle down with.

Quite a few nights that summer, we would end up with family and friends at our house for dinner. One of the things I love about living in the Northwest, is how much daylight we get during the Summer months. In June during the equinox, we get daylight from around 5 am till about 9 pm. It's amazing how much more I accomplish during that stretch of time. It also helps make up for the Winter months when it feels like we barely get any light at all.

Sophia had one more month of Summer vacation to live it up, and as such, Arizona and I had decided to take a family vacation, in another 2 weeks. That particular early August night, before the vacation, we were lucky to get out early and were heading to the ballpark, in order to watch Sophia's softball team play against another team from the Seattle area.

We had made plans and rented a cabin near Mt. Rainier towards the end of August for one last Summer getaway. Just the three of us were going, and even though neither Arizona or myself truly like actual camping, we figured 'glamping' was as close as our daughter was going to get to camping with us.

We had rented a gorgeous, good-sized log-styled house with a jacuzzi tub and a fire pit for roasting marshmallows. The back of the house had a huge deck and sat right next to a small river and five forested acres.

Honestly, I think the three of us were just looking forward to having an escape and especially having family time and spending quality moments with one another.

Soph was especially excited to try fishing in the backyard of the house for the first time. Don't even start me on how much the gear for fishing set me back, but, Arizona grew up fishing with her Father and brother and was excited to have the experience of teaching us both.

For a change, for August, it wasn't overly hot that late afternoon, and it was only in the upper 70's at the ballpark. Yet another nice thing about the NW, we rarely have large amounts of humidity and so generally even our warmer temperatures usually still seem pleasant. That night was perfect to sit in the stands, watch the game and visit with our family.

When we walked in to the ballpark, we quickly spotted Arizona's parents and my sister sitting together on an upper bleacher bench.

Since Ari moved here, she had, not surprisingly, blended in perfectly with our nuclear family and Arizona's parents. Ari had spent many dinners with us at our house, sometimes Arizona's parent's house and Ari had even hosted some dinners at her condo. Plus, the three of them often helped with Sophia and would spend time without us at games and practices we couldn't attend.
